yeah? lets get the top experts from this section and we all work together to plan and design a very cost effective, simple to put together, great designed LED light that will replace a 1000 watt HPS. it will all be very well documented, we'll have links to where to buy what, step by step build guide. we'll use only the best materials and technology. and it will be 100x better than any other companies light? yeah? yeah?

Little late to the party, huh bud?

"Our kit comes pre-assembled- all you need to do is mount it to a frame and plug it in. No wiring, soldering, drilling, tapping nor thermal pad application required - COB is already mounted on the heatsink with the reflector adapter. This kit is pre-wired and pre-assembled for mounting on a frame. Get up and growing fast and safely."

He isn't late to anything, bud.

@robincnn is furthest along with my idea of what a community-based project would look like, with his waterjetted frames. I batted around the idea with @Growmau5 awhile back too, with the intention of an open source design. It would be cool to have designs that could be ordered a la carte from a waterjetting company online.

Robin's design here: http://rollitup.org/t/diy-passive-cooling-with-pin-heatsinks-sst120-and-sst140.906729/page-21#post-12880069

Cool part about doing it this way is it's cheaper to order in bulk, even with the middle man, but I'd still love a community initiative. It's a great idea. I wish group buys were allowed here.

Maybe, I thought it was a collaboration. Either way, just like that template you just posted, it's a problem that needs a solution. The frame is by far the biggest pain in the ass of a nice build.
nobodys getting rich drilling an tapping its a labor of love. if i can send out 100 templates which make 1000 racks its the only way we will overgrow

I think it's clever what you did with the template. Measuring and marking was easily the longest part of my builld. I also like the idea of a universal platform that accomodates various heatsink/driver combos, but I worry the cost of one-offs from online machine shops might be prohibitive.

Whats up everyone? The MOD420 frame is a collaborative effort, Robin helped.

I started with open source in mind. Problem is as mentioned here 1 off parts are very costly, I know because I had several prototypes cut to test.
Did you forget your bobby g password or something?
