led christmas grow lights?

hey there!
I have led christmas lights and im thinking of making them into grow lights like a led ufo
i never used leds to grow so i have no idea if it will work or am i just wasting my time

it looks something like this


it has a range of lights (blue, green, red and orange)
its says that its 192w

so, will it work? and whice colors to use?

look my friend,first you have to understand why we are using lights?watt is only an unit of power so dont care it so much.you need the information of their light spectrum and the light heat like 6500K 13000K i dont know what you say in english and i said light heat whatever.if they are suit for growing ganja yes you can use them.

I think that you are wasting your time dude.Christmas lights are for decorating trees not growing them.Do yourself a favor and pretend that it is christmas time and go out and buy yourself some presents.Depending on how many plants you want to grow.Three to four T-5s and maybe an 250/400W hid system.Those led UFO's are shit.stick with what works.

those arent different spectrum lights they are white lights covered with different colored plastic

In one string? Don't think so. Those leds would be at most 1/2w each. Count 'em up, divide by 2 and see what you get. Chances are they are stating the equivalent output compared to the old incandescents.

Forget the window sill idea too.

To get by somewhat on the cheap, you could use CFL's. I've had marginal success with them using a reflector, one 23w bulb per plant hung not not more than about 3" above. CFL's are NFG beyond about 6" away from any part of the plant so don't plan on getting a lengthy veg period from them.

read a little bit about kelvin, and lumens! I seriously didn't understand anything about lights then sat down for like 5 hours and just read everything I could. LED's seem like a good light source though, especially if you're working with minimal space, I highly doubt though that you can make those into an efficient fixture
