Led bar style vs QBs

Ok so I'm thinking about setting a room up soon, the tent is too annoying to do anything in with no work space. Im after opinions on what style LEDs are better, and why?
From what I've researched seems like the bar styles get a much more even light distribution but drips off anything glast the sides. Also there hang distances are very close making me wonder how deep into the canopy they can penetrate.
With where my studs are to hang them from they probaly won't really get much if any reflective sides either

Great example of effective boards in a room.
Smaller scale strips.

Plenty more on here if you look. Comes down to preference more than anything.
If it were me, i would diy cobs to cover a room. Less expensive, and pretty efficient.

I've got a 2x4 strip fixture with 10 strips, and a 2x4 fixture with 4 qb's, both in a 4x4 tent. Ive never seen either fixture consistently produce better growth/harvest than the other. Plants grow great under either one.

I've run QB and bar from Spider Farmer, currently running the Kush 2. Something about QB vs bars is light dispersion. QB tend to be hotter in the middle and cooler towards the edge in terms of PAR. On a flat, even canopy the center is getting a higher DLI than the edges and it tends to show in bud structure in finished product a. bit. I find bars that cover the entire tent on all 4 sides tend to produce a more even fully grown canopy and the bud structure is better across the entire canopy with the bar styles I've used. If I were growing an expensive new strain I've never run before I'd put it under the kush just to ensure I get all edges of the canopy evenly lit and pull the highest weight. That and I can adjust spectrums and programming on the light to tailor the grow to the strain The SF are good lights I'm just not a QB fan anymore after seeing the results between their bar and QB lights and the kush. I get a better resulting canopy and slightly higher yield from the bars than the QB. Just my 2 cents.

You make a good point there and for some reasons my canopies are never perfectly even there's always some 6" or so lower

Great point. I usually run a full tent of the same strain rather than mixing two or more at once. Only reason I do is because it's more work if they don't all ripen near the same time, plus the light placement issue with multiple strains that don't run parallel to the other strains. I don't run any more than 1 tent at a time now as the weather is changing and Ill be spending more time outside. If I DID run multiples at the same time I'd do what Smoke does although the only QBs I have left are SF4000's and I only have 4x4 tents. As for the even canopy I usually SCROG or LST to maintain a flat canopy. They don't all stretch the same for sure but I found have to mess with the kush less than my other lights due to the lenses that let the light get to 6 inches if necessary. As I only grow for my wife and I I don't need to expand the grow space any larger and at this point we have a good variety on hand. Grow style today and in the future is important on picking lights.

Lots of good info from all. You have enough to make a decision I'd think. Take everything into consideration and compare with what you goals are today and future goals are and you'll get the right light style.

I just use risers under my pots to keep everything as even as possible. There's always a few 'run aways' that like to grow up tall and I'll try to run them all together next room and keep the shorts together for the run after
