you wont need those cfl's until the canopy becomes thick. when the top light doesnt penetrate. youll just be wasting electricity if you use them now

i actually do more than it says on the bottle. i do 2 tsp per quart of water and a couple drops of liquid soap for emulsification

And you use every other day with no kind of ill effects?I us eneem also but not quite at full strength and at most once a week.Wouldn't mind usin a bit more often though.Thanks.

Use it every other day other or at least twice a week. If you use it less than that then its pointless and you are wasting neem.. Twice a week i spray with karma not on the same days as neem. i do spray neem during flower too but only in the first 2 to 3 weeks.

It's an organic leaf shine and preventative. It doesn't have any fertilizers in it so it won't have any ill effects

Just removed the CFL's to increase air and light flow, girls are looking quite happy. I fed both of 'em with a 1/4 straight 20 - 20 - 20 mix. Should I continue to feed them with this straight on each watering or I should let them rest and feed them every other watering during vegging OR should I increase the straight to 1/2 at some point in vegging? They seem to like it as they grew quite a bit over night.

they are looking good but you dont want to overlove them. if they are responding well to the feeding then u have a good thing going. feeding every watering is going to invite problems. most ppl feed on a water, water, nute basis. i do this because my plants respond better to it. some ppl do feed more frequently but i would suggest you take it easy as they are still young. whatever you decide to do its very important that you flush your plants every few feedings making sure there is no salt buildup in your soil from the nutes. they will thank you for it. remember keep it simple there are no good shortcuts that wont require troubleshooting and goodluck

Thanks again for your guidance Hoenhiem. English is not my native language and I'm still struggling with few technical terms as this is my very first grow and I have a bachelor degree in CS not gardening unfortunately. From what I understand flushing is watering the plants with distilled water until it starts to drain from the holes? Or have I completely misunderstood that term?

Thank you.

yes, your absolutely right. when you water you want to water until you see water come from the bottom of the pot. when you flush you want to put twice as much water as the pot size. for instance, if you have 1 gallon pots you want o flush with 2 gallons of water. it may seem like your over watering at first but you only want to do this every once and a while. it flushes all the salt buildup in the soil out, that come from nutrients. i do this about every 3rd watering as i am using full strength nutes on my plants. since your only at 1/4 strength you can do it less often.

Bit confused about the amount of water required for flushing, wont that cause a flood in my grow room if I put that much water? Or I should flush in the bathroom?

yes you definitely want to use the sink or the tub. i dont want to confuse you, it basically means pouring twice as much water as your pot holds.

Everyone does things differently...I feed 3-4 times then water and flush 2 maybe 3 times during the whole grow...U should get dishpans at the $ store and put 1 underneath each plant so nothing is ever running on ur floor and then u wont have to carry everything to the bathroom....U only wanna flush if u see problems or ur switching from veg to flower or when ur about done..JMO...Well good luck and dont listen to everyone as we all have different ways to do things u have to come up with urs..Ur plants look fine 2 keep it up

Honestly the bulb looks a little close to the top of the plants! Check out chapter 4 of my grow book right below.
It was my understanding as long as heat within the acceptable margins I should bring the light as close as possible to the plants? Or light itself can cause ill effects to the plants? I will most definitely read your book.

Water slow....or do it twice.Dry pockets in your medium can cause issues.
I water with a pressurized spray bottle, it basically turns water into mist, it takes a while but I don't mind.

I see that now, it's hard to get an ultimate advice of what is best, I'm just trying to avoid unnecessary mistakes.

Thank you everyone for your input.

when i flush, i actually use less water than normal. at the end plants uptake about 50% less water than usual and i let them dry out more than usual so the roots can releases gases and take in oxygen. in my opininion flushing with excessive water is redundant. all your doing is drowning the plant. new feelers form on the roots after that. but you aren't continuing to grow the plant. thats only worth doing during the grow if you are doing the rain method.
