Leaves are curing in every direction but the one i want

Hey my new leaves around the main cola site are crazy lookin. They are curling inward and making themselves very skinny and they almost resemble claws. This problem has been around for a couple days and it seems as if they have gotten better... 1 of them i thought was trying to flatten/straighten himself out and it ended up started to point upwards :wall:

the fist pic shows the 1 leaf blade that started to fix itself and point upwards. You can see the other leaves around it look like claws or something

I would also like the point out that these sets of leaves are the only ones doing it on the whole plant.

Actually this is the only problem i have out of the whole crop! And aside from them looking like claws - the plant overall seems very healthy

Should i be worried?

Ahhhh, MG huh? Yup, that'll do it. You have to find new nutes, dude. MG is crap and its not going to get better, it'll get worse. I bet that fan is at the top of the plant right? Well it'll work its way down, just wait... It may not be exsessive nutes, it could be a ph issue, MG is not PH balanced. What type of soil?

bottom line is its too hard to dial in plants with miracle grow, it does not provide the proper balance of nutrients. Buying some organic nutes would save you a lot of guesswork. I'm guessing your soil ph is off, next time you water give her a good flush, and then check the ph of the run off. If the ph is the problem you'll know, if its the nutes, a flush would help. Thats what I would do anyway.

Runoff??

I have a PH tester thing that has 2 prongs that i stick in the dirt and its reading a ph of 7ish My soil is a mix of all mg peatmoss and various other mg stuff. I read that the peatmoss is supposed to have a low ph of around 5 and the other soils are relatively high around 7.5 and i water straight from the tap which is supposed to be aroun 7ph, so i believe my ph should balance out to around 7 (which is also what the ph tester is reading)

btw, Ive been watering it straight from the tap, is that bad?

when i water i only use about half a gallon of water, is this enough to "flush"?

for a proper flush i think i read 5x container volume in water. like 5 gallons for a 1 gallon container.

It's actually 3-3 1/2times the container. So if ur flushing a 1gal. pot, use 3-3 1/2 gal. of water. Distilled.

Cannabis likes its environment slightly acidic, that is the ph should be about 6.5. By "runoff", I mean the water that is coming out of the drainage holes on the bottom of your pot after you water your plants. Test the ph of the runoff and you will get a true reading of the ph of your soil. Flushing is done by, as someone stated above, watering with roughly 3 times the volume of your container. I know it seems like a lot, but the excess simply drains out the bottom, so you're really only maxing out the soils holding capacity. This will help clear out any unused exessive nutrients and prevent the dreaded "nute lock." Sucks you went with crappy MG stuff for your grow, next time grow organic, and you and your plants will be happier.

Oh one more thing I almost forgot, DO NOT WATER YOUR PLANTS WITH WATER STRAIGHT FROM THE TAP. Chlorine, man, CHLORINE. If you are going to use tap water on your plants let it sit out over night to let any chlorine evaporate. Then I guess it should be fine.

Toss that pH meter out. They always read cose to 7.0. A fish tank pH kit is WAY better. A real digital is the way to go.

MG is, as previously stated, tough to work with. Though can give good results, but not out of the box! I use the moisture Control, and it needs about a 6oz cup worth of dolomite lime per 4 gallons of soil to stabilize the pH. Also LOTS of perlite. Let it dry out and water often. More perlite and moss, the quicker it will dry out. (its actually good, don't rot them roots)

Tap water is the worst thing to use, OR its perfectly fine! (or somewhere in between) I don't know anything about your water. City water is typically more stable, and well water is typically 'harder'. Water softeners will put more calcium and salts into the water. (plants don't like that too much)

City water will also have more additives, chloromate (sp?) (chlorine replacement which doesn't evaporate off like plain chlorine) fluoride, etc. But meets certain specs.

do they sell fish tank ph kits at walmart? And yes the original root cluster is full of perlite/vermiculite. When i repotted i placed these clusters in a premade mix of all moss and medium rocks (like the stuff orchids grow on) I was low on funds and i thought the rocks mixed in with the moss would work similar to perlite/vermiculite but i could have very well been lit when i came to this conclusionbongsmilie

Walyword sells the pH kits. But mine doesn't sell the pH adjusting solutions. Petsmart has everything.

Low funds is no prob. We can work with that. Too many people put too much credit into high dollar magic sauces and such.

I heard it could be heat stress, as in the plants are too close to my light. Im using a 1000w hps light and its about 3.5 ft above my crop. It doesnt make sence tho for it to be heat because this is only happening to 1 plant out of 7, and she is no where near the tallest plant out of my crop. So if it was a heat problem would i not see it occurring on the taller plants first?
