Learning a Lot on First Ever Grow

Thanks losangeles,
Humidity is a bitch. It's crazy in there at the moment. I'm wondering if my sensor is faulty. It rains a lot here and while the shed dosent leak I'm wondering if the damp climate is causing the box to pull in humid air. I have passive damp removal crystals in there to see if that will do anything.
Thanks for reminding me that bud stinks. My filter will be complemented by some odour gel. I found a good product for this because Ona is only available expensively shipped.
I guess I'm nervous about being caught but it will only likely be the wife that finds it and she stays out of the shed mostly. No other human traffic for a long way.

no problem, anytime. yes, moisture in the air is directly related to humidity, when it rains it is 100% humidity :). you may also want to get a humidity and temperature gauge in your box too just to see what the ranges are, lows and highs for the day. biggest key, investigate the humidity that you have in your box/area, and what others have had to deal with, problems/ success rates bc if you cant take the humidity out of the air, as i mentioned before, all this work could be for not, moldy unusable buds. dehumidifiers are the only way ive ever heard of for removing moisture from a grow, but ive not extensively researched it, might be something to look into. also bugs will probably be an issue with lots of humidity, moisture and heat. youll definitely have more issues in flower with high humidity than veg, if you arent already aware.

as far as smell, id go with ona, as i know this works personally, however go with what you think works for your situation. also, if youll need to replenish your carbon in your filter if you didnt already know that, yep fish aquarium charcoal works, youll need to research that as well to see what people have success with. hopefully what you have will do the trick. well id probably just tell the wife, asap and let her know rather than find out, especially if she knows you smoke. i think its rather awesome that youre this interested in the plant and what it can do, just follow the basic rules, dont tell anyone what youre doing, except the internet and the wife, lol. stay anonymous and follow the simple dont get busted rules. wish you all the success in the world. hopefully i didnt repeat a bunch of info you already know.

Hey all,
@waterdawg : I remember buying fingers of leaf in growing up and not caring about quality, but I guess with age comes some connoisseurship(if that's even a word). If I could walk in to a dispensary and make a selection I probably wouldn't need to go to all this trouble, but if my state allowed that they'd probably not mind a plant or two shed or not, so I'd definitely still grow. Stealth is a big part of the challenge though, keeping my brain fully engaged.

@losangeles Your input is much appreciated. I'm testing the humidity and temp device I had in there. After showing 82% at under 20C (in the cab) it has shifted slowly to 63% in well built office with constant central air conditioning. Even if it isn't faulty, there is not much I can do if that's the climate I have to deal with.
I have a small dehumidifier on the way.

As an update(without pics), it's nearing 2 weeks of 13/11 dark/light cycle. I've seen some stretching but little in the way of flower signals. There is a small growth that is not a stipule. It looks like it has a point rather than a ball but it's very small and I was in a rush.
The smell has increased but not by much, even inside and there is no trace outside. Must be a happy plant @hogbud .

Will post some pics later.

This time with pixas!
Testing of the Hygrometer shows its calibrated. Looks like an anxious wait for the dehumidifier. Pics show some signs of sex but I cant make the call.
Looking sexy with these eyes though.
Fragrance still reasonable

Checked in tonight and spotted some balls on one of my plants. Pretty sure anyway but will have a longer look and a pic or two tomorrow.

Lucky the other one has some pretty clear looking hairs poking around the place.

Seems that "someone somewhere on the interwebs" was onto it saying 2 seeds planted in the same container would give a pigeon pair. That's unequivocal proof right there. Pure science betch!!!

So stoked. I will call them Hank and Parvati.

Hank will get the chop when I get a minute to confirm, then probably bend Parvati down into the space. Thinking I won't repot to keep things calm. Going to brew up some compost tea in the coming days too.

:hump:

Its just a little whiffy at the moment so I have reopened the odour gel and will check in tomorrow. I am graduating the use of it by slowly uncovering pre drilled holes in the lid.

Thanks @Happygirl

Woohoo!

I am struggling with humidity as you are. I am looking into dehumidifier crystal gel thingies. I think given the tiny scale of your grow, they would be ideal for you. You could put it inside if there is room, or right by your intake if not.

Thanks @FlashBabylon I tried crystals meant for clearing damp but they only marginally reduced the levels even with a fan clowing on them. I am waiting on a pretty small dehumidifier which might fit in there but if it gets too squishy it might be a box withing a box situation.
Its wet out here.

Humidity has dropped off. Quite unscientifically I don't know why.

Couple of dry days over the weekend. Cleaned my shed gutters. Moved the fan away from the damp crystals. It has rained 2 days already and it's still hovering at 57% 2 hours after lights on. Been real windy so that might be it.

Either way those buds are fattening somewhat, which is good.

Possibly a combination of all those things. It's dropped in my grow too. Just got five damp crystal tubs, and put one in the room, the rest in the tent. Fingers crossed.

So my dehumidifier arrived and I have squashed it in there. I've also repotted and glad I did. It looks like there was some root bound.

It smells weedy in there but when I repotted and agitated, I got a whiff of something pretty awful. Perhaps it was the skunk strain that has made it this far. I'll get better at labelling next time.

Used some compost tea the other day and also repotted with seaweed extract solution to help ease the stress.

Dehumidifier is working and I took some advice from on these forums and am only running it on the night cycle with extraction off. The lights kick on with extraction and the dehumidifier turns off. It's a pretty good system really for regulating against the highs and lows of temp, whilst also bringing down the moisture. It also suits my noise needs. Daytime outside is night in the box so the dehumidifier can raise the noise without notice. At night the lights kick on and the noise from the D backs off.

This purchase has solved some prolems for me

Thanks again for everyone's help in here. :weed:

Having a nice ole spliff in the shed, before I update some things in the cab. Might shift some lights for better use of space. Gonna add some soluble bloom mix in there too.

Flowering away. Space shuffle worked out well. One light strip moved to the other side. everything snug but a more powerful fan inside and fixed disconected outake fan. Neem sprayed with a propper mix and gave some nutes.

She's looking good in there.

So stoked. :hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump::hump:

So tragedy struck and I popped in to witness some pretty severe dried out buds a few days ago.
It could have been nute burn but it looked worse than any I've seen on the web.
My 3 options are:
1. nute burn(used full strength bloom booster after sticking mostly to half strength)
2. Heat stress left unchecked for 3 days. This may have been the culprit after I used a blanket bubbled around the box to contain some of the air and maximise the effect of the dehumidifier.

Option 3: a lesson from god to respect his plant and don't get greedy.

I was pretty gutted but now I just chopped and strung them up to practice some curing. They aren't ready but they smell like lemony bud so I'm sure I can have a taste if what I could of had.

Next I will send a good few plants 12/12 from seed to see if I can get a couple of females, which I will either harvest or mother or both.

I look forward to my next journal.
