Got some burnt leaves late in my first grow and I would like to discuss what I have done wrong and what I can do better.

My set up: 4x4x7 gorilla grow tent w/ 2 GLS 300 LED lights. 4in intake cloudline w/ 6in cloudline exaust using advanced controller. Flood and drain w/ rockwool, coco mat, and panda film over the tray, 3 2 minute floods a day. Temp never goes lower than 69 (nice) or higher than 84 degrees F with 50% humidity in the day and as high as 65% humidity at night. 12/12 light cycle. Hth Pool shock for sterility, 0.01 grams per gallon put directly into reservoir every 2-3 days. I am 3 days in to week 6 of flower.

Heres where I know I fucked up, the nutes... Ive been using jacks line of nutrients, bloom at the start of flower for 2 weeks, then jacks 3-2-1 starting at 1.5 up to 2.4 (max reccomended dose by Jacks) by week 4. I know I way over did it with the 2.4 EC. The white widow buds look amazing and the leaves below with minor edge burn are all WW. The blueberry is legitimately angry with me, curling, burning, and Im sure its effected the bud size and quality.

I realize running a sativa dom and an indica dom in the same res is really really dumb, as different strains and phenos have different nute requirements, but the consistent theme Ive noticed, with my novice eye mind you, is a calcium/potassium deficiency and perhaps a chlorine excess from the pool shock. I dont know how these nutes can be locked out or deficient with the EC i am running, so perhaps I am misdiagnosing them? Ive cut back to 2.0 EC and Im honestly not sure what to look for in terms of their health improving or declining since they are so far along in flower.

Next grow is going to be all peyote wifi and I want to keep them green through the entire grow, here are some pics, I am looking for discussion and advice, but if you want to roast me, thats fine to!

1 ec feed should be all you ever need. Never more.

Which feed chart are you following. They have a way to many floating around now and it can be confusing.

I run the jacks tap which is considered a 1 part but we all know it ain't. I just put in enough to get me 1 ec total and add a lil Epsom and bleach. At 1.5 ec with jacks I had N tox on a kush plant. So I run 1 now and I know several others also run around 0.8 - 1 ec never more.

Tall plant burned up cause it was to tall.

I have found i also need to keep my plants much further away from the lights than I thought.
 
That is a weird feed schedule. Which jacks are you using?

RO or tap?

I would really love to know their grow conditions that allow a plant to flourish at that hi ec in hydro. Those feed charts are for outdoor soil once a week feed schedules.

Plants look decent. My first 3 grows looked much worse. Like....much much much worse.

My tap water is .3 ec. My res is about 1 ec and will stay around that. So I'm only feeding .7 ec.

Do you have the finish formula? Could run that at .8 ec from now till finish.

Or use 321 but make a full strength gallon. As in use those recommended dosages they gave you for 321 in a jug. Then dose your res with that jug toll you get 0.8ec.

I am running a 15 gallon res, can get as high as 17gal. Should I just dilute with RO water to get the EC lower and correct PH accordingly?

I do have the finish formula, I am ignorant as to why it is the finish formula though. You dont think it would hurt the plants running that for 4-5 weeks at .8 EC?

It def will not hurt the plants. You could run tap water till harvest and be fine. At the stage you are in the plants are not eating a lot. They are done most of the growing. The finish formula has less N. Just more geared towards what the plant wants in the end of the cycle. Not needed but if you got it why not use it.

They may start to yellow from the bottom but that is good.

Oh also. Yeah you could probably just add ro to get it down.
 
Those are way overfed.

People have been growing with Jacks using just the 5-12-26, calcium nitrate, epsom salts AKA 3-2-1 for years without any issues. Looks like Jacks is jumping on the "Sell as many products as we can" bandwagon. Can't blame them. If they can sell 4 more products that's more profit. They're in business to make money.

I would just use the 3-2-1 formula from start to finish and not follow that chart with 4 additional products.

Luckily their whole line is fairly inexpensive. I am actually pretty happy with my results all things considered, but I know theres ALOT of room for improvement.

I am planning on dropping my EC down to 1 for the last 4-5 weeks of flower.

Yeah it's not like you're paying $25 a liter for water.

Exactly. Lowering the EC will conserve the nutes even more, and when they get their 25 lbs part A and B bags back in stock, Ill be set for the foreseeable future.

Gotta say, I was going to try a few different nutes over the next few years, but with these results despite how bad I managed to fuck things up, I am pretty well sold on Jacks.

Once you try Jack you never go back. :mrgreen:
 
I don't use Jacks but something so similar it might as well be. I made the switch years ago. I haven't used bottled nutes in over ten years.

A product packaged by a local shop I've been going to for years. When I stopped using bottled nutes I started with their in-house blend. I've been growing organic lately though but am going to do a coco run with a strain I've been working on and am going to run salts because I don't want anything going wrong. I've been all over the map with organics and don't want any problems.

Just repackaged salts. But as soon as I switched from bottled nutes my grows got better and I never have any issues when using. I can't say the same with my entry into organics which is getting better every grow.

I switched to the 321 last grow and liked it. It’s in my signature if you want a look. You’re super high for EC. I got up as high as 1.9 last grow at the peak of flower, but that was too high. I’ll likely stay 1.2 EC max this run. I use 3.78 of part a, 2.52 of b and .99 grams of Epsom a gallon, just like the email they sent you. It’s a little different than it used to be, a touch more a and b but less Epsom than the original at 3.6, 2.4 and 1.2.
I tried the finish and HATED IT. Blue dyed garbage! My plants would not take it up either, ppm/EC didn’t change for 4 days, just the ph changed, constantly. I won’t use it again, but loving the 321. No calcium in the finish either, so it’s not great to run it a long time. They recommend their calcium supplement with it; more to buy. You could use the calcium nitrate, but you’re slamming a lot of nitrogen to them that way.
If you have RO water you’ll likely have a lot of ph swing on a new tank. I’m getting a big ph raise and then a drop after a few days, likely due to my .1 EC water. I’m adding some silicon to stabilize the ph and it seems better this tank.
