Now with the links provided Vi, The Disaster aboard the USS Forestal is a well known fact in Naval Circles. Everyone who has been in Naval Bootcamp since 1970 knows about what happened aboard that ship.
What Med says is true about McCain's involvement with that fire.
You see there was a combination of factors that happened to make this happen.

• The US Navy sent in old and unstable ordinance.
• There was a short circuit aboard the first plane which caused a missile to be fired at McCain's Plane.
• McCain Panicked and dropped bombs from his plane while he was trying to escape from his own plane. (the drop button is right on the Joy Stick which controls the plane)
• Also a contributing factor to the disaster was that the men on board the USS Forestal were poorly fire trained.
  The Lead fire fighter came out not dressed to fight the fire and with the wrong equipment.
  A fire extinguisher won't do shit to put out a jet fuel fire, they should have headed out there with Foam canisters and donkey dicks.... (foam applicators)

Another Lie that keeps being perpetuated is that John McCain's Injuries were brought about by torture in the POW camp at Hanoi. His Injuries were a result of the plane crash when he was shot down.
He wouldn't have been shot down had he known where he was at.
McCain was lost and he had ventured into a "well Known" location for Surface to Air Missiles on The North Vietnamese side of the battle lines.

You really really want to believe this little story people have made up that you say the darnest things. Trust me, if they pinned the whole accident on McCain, not even his dad could bail him out.

I spoke with a swabby, who was in Navy boot camp in October 1974, and he saw several films on fire suppression. Which was good because a year later he was on board a ship that had a massive hold fire. But he never heard about McCain causing any fire from anyone.

So at the very least, this "common knowledge" that people have spoken about, does not seem so common. McCain did NOT cause the Zuni missile to fire into his A-4 fuel tank as some people have said. However, what happened next, was a series of several mistakes that McCain may have added to.

Finally, McCain was hurt first in the fire and again when he was shot down over Hanoi. Then he was almost beaten to death by the Vietnamese people and the solders who captured him. That information has been confirmed by his two cell mates that nursed him back from the living-dead. So, we know, he did suffer massive injuries on the ground. Then, even more injuries for the next 5 and half years as a POW; partly because he was the son of an admiral and refused to give full cooperation to his captors.

Now, what I do not comprehend is this; if you dislike McCain's politics then say so and move on. Why do some of you people insist on telling bald-faced lies to each other? Yet you curse politicians that tell lies. What is the difference?
