they are t5ho. i work with lighting daily. you are mistaken. your bulbs if thinner are no offence but t4. they do exist along with t3. the 5 stands for 5/8 of an inch. all t5 are 5/8 of an inch. hence the name. your bulbs ar the same or you have bought the wrong fixture. i have many t5 fixtures including teck light 8 bulb and all bulbs are t5ho. your HOT setup is the same. they are common here in canada. seen them many times. heres the bulbs i use. the pic just fooled ya. here they are. dont know how much more proof i can provide. i have over 30 of these t5hos in my house. also pic of t8 which is obviously 1 inch diameter. i would never put anyone down but i tough everybody here new what they were talking about. if i am going to be questioned on whether or not my fixtures are even t5ho then thats low. i'm not a noob so dont question my intelligence. if your bulbs are of any other diameter you are the 1 who got ripped off. sorry to put it harshly. 54 watt t5ho in the only diameter they come in 5/8 right here.

i wasnt trying to say yours werent. i know the fixture. just saying that my pics must have made the bulbs look different. same bulbs. that hot fixture is a nice fixture. if i had the money at the beginning i'd have bought 1. i just got out of a 5 year relationship and can grow again. All my other t5s are over the aquarium. so i couldnt really borrow. but yours is the same fixture as mine just higher build quality. the heat is just because its enclosed. sounds rough but some people i know often droll a few holes in the hood and reflector and it really dissipates heat well. you'll see me with a nice fixture soon. hopefully with some money from this yield now. see you guys. good luck.

yea it was my mistake.. after looking w/ my glasses on ( heh ) I noticed that the ones in ur pics do apear smaller than I first thought.. But the bulb in this pic really looks alot bigger than 5/8'' lol.. Or maybe im just really blind haha..

Oh and about the quality of my light.. IT SUCKS ASS.. Everything damn thing ive gotten from HTG has either been broken/damaged upon recieveing or has blew within 1 week.. I will not be buying anymore crap from HTG.. I made a long ass post about all the probs ive had w/ there stuff in a reply here a few moments ago but I hit the back buttin on my mouse and lost it all ARGH.. So im too lazy to go in to it all again, but I def do not reccomend HTGSUPPLY to anyone.. I had a 600w digi ballast before I got this T5 and the digi ballast made all the internet go out for a 5 mile radius around my home.. The cable company came out and everything.. So I would stay away from HTG .. Just a lil good advice..
your grow is looking awesome.. im subscribed.

sure thing. i have plenty of bulbs and have been thinking. depending on the yield of the lr2s. if decent i will build an ebb and flow 4 levels high. 3 sides of the wardrobe. since no clones i have to pull males. hassle. so i'll use 1 inch rockwool in clay pellets and when i find the males the only waste is 1 inch wool cube. with 3 sides i can fit around 80 females in there. i'll prob use 20 48inch t5hos. this crop is going strong and i should be able to get this thing built fast in 2 or 3 days as soon as these are done. depending on how much money i get. honestly i am nervous to build and spend all this money if it fails. i cant afford 1 failure. do you guys here see this working and actually maximizing yield? My cab is 2x4x6 tall. please let me know. or do you think just having 2 horizontal grows would be best? is this too small of a space? 80 plants sounds good? i could draw it?

that could be the best advice i've evrer gotten. i've heard nothing but goods things about them but from your description it sounds like theyre fixing returned merchandise and selling it. i wont try them then. +rep. i knew these crazy low priced internet sites were to good to be true!!

Here's how it is. Lamps give off heat. This heat is rated in watts. Wattage (heat), when taken over time, is measured in British Thermal Units. 1 watt/hour = 3.412 BTU Notice that the amount of heat an air-conditioner can remove is rated BTU. A 432 watt H.O. T5 fixture puts out more heat than a 400w HID.

I have personally recorded temps as high as 101* F on a bed of hydroton 6" away from the T5s.

I could only recommend T5s to someone who is keeping their grow under 600 watts. I'd take the 432w over a 400w HID any day, and not just because of the extra watts, but because the footprint is superior. When you start talking about multiple kWs of lamp action, cooling becomes a huge factor, and the cooltube is boss.

yah i thought about that too. i know i could get 1000 watts in there of t5 with some vents. i wouldnt tell you i could close the door with that. maybe i should do a 1000 hps with tube. hearing someone else say it makes it seem more logical. plus distance wouldnt be such a pain. well then new question. would my setup be an efficient yielder with hps or is it pointless to go vertical this small? I do have 3 150 hpss that could go into a tube.

but the footprint of 1K of T5's would be much much greater than the footprint of a 1K HID. Since I have my 6 lamp HOT5 now, i will prolly do a sog or scrog as I feel thats the best way to get the best out of a T5 set up.. Large, even canopy,no need for light to get to lower bud sites etc

Hey guys...

Just chiming in with my 2 cents....

I use aircooled HPS for flowering and 400 watts of T-5 for the moms...

T-5s put out a fair amount of heat... and if you are in an enclosed space without OPTIMUM ventilation, the heat will build up....

It is not as easy to cool a T-5 as it is an HID... just slap the single bulb in a cooltube and you're good to go...

But with the T-5, you can't just fit it in a tube... so the next best thing is to have a fan blowing between the lights and the tops of the plants....

On a different note...

T-5s do not have the intensity to give you dense nugs at the bottom, as they are mostly in the shade....

So I would recommend not having bottom branches...

Single Cola Lollipops will make better use of the light as they shade themselves way less than bushes...

Here is an example of what I think would work well for you... (this was flowered with HPS, but I am just illustrating the lack of fluffy, wispy, bottom nugs....

Cheers.... :-P
I think you would do fine with the T-5s... just keep the short and single cola to avoid the dreaded "shade farm"...

You could do well with a wall of tubes...

Kinda like Heaths flooded tube vertical.

But just a flat wall with T-5s in front of it... just make sure you have proper ventilation...

good thats the motivation i need. honestly i've never done ebb and flow but seems the same as dwc almost. i am willing to try it. i have to price the tubing. the whole setup would prob be a few hundred? not sure. i know they sell all the tubing here but never looked. It sounds like it could yield well. i needed that motivation to get me going. i'll look for piping this weekend. seeya. lolololol

No way would 1kW T5s outperform a 1kW HID. You're looking at a 6' x 6' footprint with the HID, and the 4' T5s are only about 40", and when you consider the cost; I'm embarrassed for you.

your emarrassed for me? you obviously grow big if you cant afford to experiment. i actually pity you. I can spare a few hundred. sorry your yields are weak. i'll just take an ounce or 2 and never know the dif. i am actually motivatd to try a vertical grow now. guarantee i'll blow out 1000 watts of hid in a single bulb. my footprint is much more even and defined. if it fails its because i made a mistake in the hydro setup. but i'll do it. as soon as the plants are in there are gone
