Large Room Ventilation and Odor Control HELP PLEASE!

My opinion has always been this:

The cost of a charcoal filter and inline fan setup will likely be far less than the first call to your attorney to explain how you got busted...

Where I live the exhausted air doesn't stay warm all that long and if you walk around the house and stop here and there and take your time like a cop would...you will smell weed growing if there is NO filter present/in place.

Never forget that when ya live in it and ya smoke it daily....you can rarely REALLY smell it as others can who do not partake.

good luck all. be safe, be well.

getahead... GOOD call.

FYI...I run the exhaust from 2600 watts of charcoal filtered hps into the front ENTRYWAY of my home in the winter and there is NO SMELL. This cuts a good 1/2 off my heating bill and no one has ever said my home smells like weed (unless i just smoked..I'm med..fuck em!)

Don't be paranoid..just spend the $$$ on the right filter/fan combo and REST EASY BRO.

OK..now I'm done.

I undertand your concern. I am so far removed from society out here that smell is my least concern. With an east wind I can smell the dairy farm down the highway, but they have 2000+ head of cattle. If any LEO ended up out here its not because of the smell. As a second plus, the chimney is perfect cover for my heat signature in my climate.

one option for a ventilation fan is to use a server cabinet fan. These are 10" circular fans. New a 800cfm fan will run around $300, 500cfm ~$200 but you can find these used for much cheaper, ~$50-$100. Also cage or "squirrel fans" can be found used at auctions and on ebay for pretty good deals ~$100 for 300-500cfm.

get proper charcoal filter and cfm fan,or dont do it,your asking to get caught, btdt gave you excellant advice, you do that and you will sleep at night,if you think a room that size can be vented to the great outdoors with out it being detected, well you know the answer already.

Did you mean good call in using filtration, good call in venting into the other portion of the shop, or both? :-|

You arent from my old Canada then. Nevermind my advice, i forget that most people live lifes out of their growops, now that is fucking stupid to me. If any person, law or not was that close to my fucking grow it would be over for one of us. We are not big on trespassers in these parts. If someone is close enough to smell the exhaust of the house, then they would hear the generator down the hill and its too late by then.

While beenthere donethat is correct in that the home depot fans are cheap, and are not designed for a charcoal filter at all.

I did post a odor removal machine you can build for under $30.00 bucks, but whatever works for you is fine.

I dont use duct work either, I do however stand by the math equation myself and 1000's of others have used it with great success.
Try BT DT,s advice of using a 440cfm fan, you can always add to it later when/if the heat gets too high....again, home depot has cheap fans for like $30 bucks that will exhaust alot of air. LoL
Peace

Sorry trapper, I misunderstood what ya were saying. I wouldnt take the risk of growing large space if its that congested out there. Fans are a big enough pain for me to worry about here and I'm too far for picking up those filters if I wanted 'em.

such fun......

the 4-600s are vented seperately from the room w/ a 440 cfm inline. The lone 1000Mh is unvented at this time....

The room is vented through the duct muffler on the ceiling....via a 10" 737 cfm Can fan into a large inline charcoal filter and then into another duct muffler and OUT. You can barely hear this roaring mess outside by the vent.

good luck folks...

my room is 600 square feet and i use a 1400cfm fan with a odor sok and i dont have inlet fans i let the vent fan bring in the air i take the air from under my room i dont know if you can do that but if you can the airs allot cooler when i got my fans i went to the flea market and i got two for 20 buck one was a 1400 cfm and the other was a 2500 cfm fan and they dont make allot of noes
</IMG>yha only thing is you would have to put a filter on both side of the fan my filter cost me $138 for a 1000 cfm filter i set my fan at 1000 not 1400

Alright, that setup in the picture looks like the TITS! Just about what I was envisioning after recalling the concept of venting the lights, themselves. Good stuff, there.
