They "saved" my old lamp at least once when the fans quit on me. Also I have used one of these switches in connection with the fans, so that they would start when the temps got a little high (the lamp was mainly passively cooled) and stop when the temps were okay.

By the way, I just took the first ebay listing I found, they can be found a lot cheaper than that and for temps as low as 30 celsius.

I'm waiting to test the system to be included on the COB lamp , the ideal would be to insert the correct sensor near the temperature when the fan turns off, to understand you have to test and verify the real-time response of the sensor and the correct adjustment of voltage. The correct thing would place it directly on the COB/LED, I do not know yet if the dimensions allow in my configuration. Otherwise you can use near the COB/LED, as the adjustments and the right sensor considering the different position.

Yeah, I placed it close to the the led I thought would be the hottest.

Also, as I think you are saying, the actual temp for when the switch turns on/off has to be tested to be sure what the range is. It takes some degrees Celsius of cooling to make it switch off again, once it has been switched on.

One more thing to consider is if the range of the switch shifts as time goes by. I've had this switch working for a couple of years with no noticeable change in behavior, but there might be a shift nonetheless. I guess this is where I would need an infrared thermometer, to read the temps off the switch...
