I just wanted to gather as much information possible about a strain called la chocolat by DNA seeds. I got one as a freebie and its about 6ft tall, she's about to start flowering and would really like to know what to expect and there doesn't seem to be much about this strain on the net so I'm sure others will find it helpful also pics would be great this is all I got so far

I received a LA Chocolat seed as a freebie in my last order and am in the process of growing it out now.

All I can say is that it's growing well. It's an outdoor grow in the ground. I left it untopped and its about 7 ft tall. Not much for side branches.

Feel free to keep this thread updated with your info, as I'm curious myself.

I must have a totally different pheno, after 6 weeks of veg in a waterfarm it is like 18 inches maybe I went ahead and stuck it in my flower room. It is a short and compact plant, presumably mine is more la leaning because I believe I have read that they are smaller and more compact.

Yeah man, I'll definitely keep you updated on bud growth/finished product.

It's just only starting to bud now. I'm hoping that the seed bank keeps good on their flowering time, since my area usually gets a killing frost in early October.

How tall is your plant? Did you top or Lst? I just went the all natural, Christmas tree route haha

Hmm, that's interesting.

I didn't top mine because I recall the strain description saying that there was no need, due to compact growth or something.

Must have just gotten a crazy pheno lol. Keep us updated

"The flower time is 8 weeks making it commercially viable, grows great indoors or for a quick finish outdoors and because the original LA structure is small it stops the stretch from the Chocolope so there is no need to pinch or top." - taken from strain description. Lol

Yeah the leaves on mine are fat like an indica, not long and slender. The height is really something else. I'm hoping that the stretch is all done and that it continues to fill out. I'm interested to see what the buds look like. Next time I'm out I'll try to snap a pic.

Well if that is the case ,then my sole LA Choc lady is most def taking after here daddy Chocolope. I began flowering 4 days ago. She was just over 3 feet tall and adding inches by the day. Not much side branching at all. Maybe a big main cola and a few side branches at harvest . We will have to see. As for the aroma at this early stage, I can see myself liking this one when she is ready to smoke. I usually can get a good idea what the smoke will be like by just touching a leaf or the main stem for a sec or two. This is a trained nose after about 25-30 grows now. lol.......I will post some pics as flowering get well under way.....I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how others are doing too .........peace and choco buds

I've grown a ton of LA Confidential thru the years, and as a commercial grower I had to give her up, because her yields were too low, even though her quality was phenomenal. But yeah... She has a short and compact stature and from the pics I've seen on this forum/thread... It looks like you got some wild pheno. Maybe she'll end up being something cool or unusual... Although, I usually ditch oddball phenos. I like to grow certain strains for their advertised attributes. If she doesn't turn out the way she was supposed to, I usually ditch her (unless she does something super interesting). Well, thats my input. Good luck. And btw, cool patio. I'd love to be able to grow using natural sunlight.

Mine has already more than doubled in size, may triple or quadruple by the end of i,t and is developing more of a christmas tree stature than I had expected it to.

I checked my patch with the La Chocolat recently and was surprised to see dime sized buds forming. My pure indicas aren't even that far along!

The stretch has stopped from what I can tell and it's a good thing because at 8ft tall it's going to be difficult to inspect the main cola.

I also noticed a good deal of tricomes already. Hoping for some frosty buds when they're finished.

I took a few photos but haven't bad the time to figure out the upload process. How are everyone else's coming along? Any bud development?

I started the freebie I got of this recently, and it has fat leaves and is moving alone very slowly. I have read around the webs that the LA Affie and Affie dom phenos of the Confidential are very slow vegging plants, as some indicas tend to be. Often, they don't really (or won't really) take off growthwise unless they have some serious root development. If mine continues to exhibit Affie traits I will probably veg it out fairly large before flowering, stake it like a motherfucker, and hope for the best. Of the four free LA Confidential regs I got from the tude, only one started, and its a weird looking slow moving seedling at this point. I have no reason to not expect the La Chocolat to be fire, as I've grown Chocolope (delicious, very potent chocolate thai pheno) and smoked some LA Confidential (good taste, strong medicinal stone).
