I just ordered two of those for my veg room. Cheeper off eBay than Amazon or anywhere else I've found and seem perfect for veg. Will do way better than the cfls I've been using. I have a purple auto in going to throw in there w them in the corner just for fun.

I'm using a VIPAR 900w (425w actual) as a replacement for a 600w hps to see if they measure up for flowering. If so i'll replace everything w top of the line led. So far with that light it definitely runs cooler than my hps and is bright as fuck. Got another month of flower but so far so good.[/QUOTE
Think I order one then.c
Do it. I've had awesome results with inexpensive LEDs.

RIU will make you feel like less than a 2nd class citizen for using it, but I don't think yield will be that much less. I haven't seen hard evidence though either. For $58.00 you'll be happy IMO. Gotta start somewhere.
not for me dude,I don't mind paying the extra money for juice ,I get good end results with 2 x 600 hps lights I was going to get it me bro he wants to start growing ,so I was going to get him one ,just to see if his hearts in it or it's just a fad with him,if he takes to it then I be doing him a room with hps lights.but dont wanna lay out a lot of money if he is just gonna play at been a grower

If you want an organic nute and potting mix that works very well and is both simple and cheap, go with the potting mix, veg/fruit/flower food, and bone meal from Nature's Care. Yes, it is a Miracle Gro brand, but it's OMRI listed and fully suitable for cannabis, despite that other lines under the MG flag are not.

HPS will run up your electric bill like crazy. I think LEDs are on their way to replacing HID
All my vegging is done under t5 ,but I am thinking of trying a couple of them in the future in my veg unit ,see how he goes on first with it.very nice plants by the way odgreen

Appreciated, man. Wasn't trying to talk shit, but if it's his first grow and might not stick with it, HID is going to traumatize the dude via his utility bill. It is true that Mars Hydro 300s are not the most quality lights, but they do work.

just to put in my 2 cents worth, Mars hydro are way over priced. only buy 3 watt and 5 watt diodes. all the others are garbage.i have 5 grows with LED and 1 with COB. LEDs & COBs will give you really nice returns. They are AWESOME for vegging. they are a little lacking in flower, supplement with T5 and or CFLs and you'll be happy. Im going with HPS for flower on my next grow to see if there is a bigger difference.

..69-100 dollars is overpriced for functional grow LEDs? Get the hell out of here.

And LED definitely doesn't lack much in flower. Not saying we're at HID quantity, but it's still near as good, and equal in quality.

For someone who has been HID his entire life I ventured into the LED COB build recently in an attempt to shave some $ off my electric bill and be able to grow in summer months without using the AC so much. I still have to put the LED COBs to test of actually growing anything, but they sure do put out a shit ton of light and literally NO heat....at least mine does anyways. I have high hopes to replace my 1000W hps (possibly both if they work as well as hps) in the summer at least which would pay for the whole LED build in the first cpl months alone.

DIY seems to be the way to go if you have a small amount of building/technical skill.
I have about $390 usd in my 200W 4 cob led bar.
Compare the numbers between the DIY COB build and a Mars Hydro and the price tag is more than justified in my opinion.
Not to mention the longevity of the DIY bar build is far greater than the longevity of a Mars light according to many that use them.

I personally use non-COB Lighthouse Hydro BlackStars. They're a few years old, but I use both my 240w and 500wUV/IR in flower. Only about 444 real watts used, barely any heat, none from the actual diodes. Great turnaround, though.
