Kushberry, anyone growing it?

I finally planted my two kushberry seeds and both germinated. Are they some sort of really slow grower though? They both just have the smallest hint of their first pot leaves a week later, while all of my other plants have taken off.

I'm concerned, these were my favorite seeds and my first 'non bagseed'.
 
I planted two KB seeds directly into small RW cubes on 5/25. Both came up on 5/27 and I just transplanted them into hydroton this morning. I am happy with the results, but I watered them twice daily with a digi scale and a spray bottle to keep the RW cube at a perfect 20g wet. It is the same method I use for my clones and it works great.

The KB should be interesting as both plants are starting to grow different kind of leaves. One is shorter and fatter while the other is longer and skinnier. I hope I have different pheno types going, because I still don't know which is the good one to keep.
 
I wasn't very impressed with the 2 kushberry plants I grew out recently besides the yield of one.
One pheno that didn't yield well was the more blueberry sided. The buds were rather airy and it hermied
at week 9. The other plant was topped and more a 50/50 representaion of the cross. It was a 40" tall bush with
50 heads. I yielded 5 1/2 ounces off it which is my biggest indoor yield off one plant. The buds don't smell very strong
and in my opinion isn't that potent. I gave it all away if that answers anything....

Both of my seeds germ'd super quickly. I used paper towel method and within 48 hours one had started to not only grow root but sprouted. The other was a green seed and it had a nice long root. They were planted in Foxfarm/peralite mix and had both popped out of the soil by the following evening but just have not done a thing since then. I planted a Pineapple Daisy 2 days after these and she had just a tiny root. She's already taken off and surpassed these two as well. Thank you both for your experience with this strain. I'll try and update this thread if they take off or not. When I searched for the strain there were not many threads at all.
 
I just dropped one into some fox farm... 36 hours after germination and they are already 1" tall...

They were the fastest the germinate out of 7 strains..
 
Because I said I'd try to update, these plants are seriously lagging behind the other strains I've got. They finally got big enough to top and they are about 6 weeks old. two days later they still have not sprouted new growth from the topping. They look green and healthy otherwise.

Maybe this is just my serious lack of knowledge but this is my experience with them.
 
UPDATE:
My KB are doing great so far. The one with the fatter indica looking leaves stretched like crazy. By the time it was 12" tall, it was growing an inch or more per day so I topped it. It continued to stretch an inch a day and topped it again a week later when it was 19" tall (my HID is about 25" above my pots). It started to grow side branches after that.

The other pheno with the longer leaves grew normal so far. I topped it a few days ago and look forward to taking my first cutting from each around the end of the month.
 
kushberry isnt one of the easier strains to grow. it wont hurt to check on them up to 4 times per day and especially before you go to bed and once you wake up. i found this strain pretty demanding but the buds should fatten up pretty quickly. sometimes it can take a few days for the top to grow but i wouldn't worry about that. the next colas will be even better as the plant compensates. how is your air circulation? that's really important to stimulate growth. and check the pH of your soil, all i could think of

The pH from run off is pretty steady at 6.5. Temp by the plants stay at 80-83 with lights on and I have a fan blowing over them keeping them swaying. Here is a pic of it, compared to the pineapple daisy that was planted 2 days later.

UPDATE:

The first two cuts I took of my tall KB plant (plant A) rooted nicely. Now that I have two rooted clones, one will go on to become a mother plant and the other will go into my SOG room to see how she does. This is the pheno that has the fat indica looking leaves. The shorter plant (plant B) has leaves that blend right into my WW plants. I hear that KB grows tall and is 70% indica, so I am thinking that plant A might be the correct pheno. I will find out about yield and potency in a couple months.:blsmoke:
 
Whos Kush Berry are we talking about?

I grew PeakSeedsBCs version and it was fantastic. Not a big yielder but not bad. Very compact and stable. Very potent, leans to the Blueberry. Excellent for small space growing.
 
You can never expect to grown a seed or two and expect to find a keeper, it's just nice when it does happen. That's how I feel.

Me too, 10 seeds, 5 or 6 females 3 or 4 keepers to choose from is kind of standard. Putting time, energy and hopes into just a couple seeds does not seem efficient to me
 
this one wasnt a favorite to grow, smoke was not to bad. It was interesting. little bit fruity. buds were not as dense as I had hoped.
 
My PH had been running around 6.5 in soil. I up'd it to 6.8 and I'm feeding full strength one feeding and a little tea mix the next. It seems to be helping and they are growing better now. I'm gonna say these are NOT a strain for beginners or possibly soil? What are you growing in Goldowitz?

Anyway, I just can't cull a plant so these will finish. I think, in the future I will be sticking with easier plants though.

I bought six fem seeds and because of my perpetual SOG, I only had room to grow out two additional mother plants. Since both should be fem and KB has a few phenos, I have a good chance of getting a keeper. If not I will start another two seeds and try again. I am just looking to add a new strain so I am not in a big hurry.

4" pots with hydroton. They grow very fast, very tall and cuttings root with ease. They grow very tall and might not work in my setup. My WW finish 2-3 feet tall and the KB is that tall after the second week.
I clean my trays once a month and they are filled with SOG plants that I remove to do the cleaning, so LSTing the KB might be out of the picture.
So far, I had to top 8" the second week and another 8" this week (3rd week).

If I keep topping them I suspect they will yield only a few golf ball nugs. I want to keep them and make them work so if anyone has any ideas please let me know.:leaf:
