When was the last time you watered an how moist it the soil like it looks dry on the top thats why I ask
The best trick I've found is to lift up the dry pot and remember how heavy that is. When it feels like that again water it.

The wilting technique you mentioned will work ...but IMO don't let them wilt every time just keep track of how many days it takes them to wilt and water the morning before that and you should be fine ....as the get larger you'll notice they may need water sooner and sooner but that's a great way to get on track ....good luck happy growing
