People that have been growing in hawaii since the 70’s. Unlike this puamana dude that came here from Oregon well after 2000.
Rarely are there any of those guys still young enough to grow.
You're talking guys in their 60-80 range.
2000, is 18 years ago! That's practically kamaaina!!

I am not saying you're wrong, but do you have some proof of what you say?
I read their site, and the info they have listed is mostly legit!!
Some of their knowledge is not common knowledge, and is spot on.
So if they not from here, then they have been in the scene a long time, as knowledge like that is only local!

Holy shit. i just went to the Pua Mana website and saw the advertisement for the Moloka`i Frost. Damn, that guys has done his homework.
First of all, I never told too many people about the origins of the Frost, and i cant remember if i ever posted that information, but if i did, he certainly found it.
I shared the Frost with people all over the world freely, as i got it from my friend from Moloka`i. He's charging for it which sucks and it has happened in the past but every seller knew my mana`o about selling the Frost. I always said hybrids ok but to make $ off my friend's family's strain kinda shitty.
I don't know Pua Mana, but somehow they know all the right things to say about the Frost. I should order a pack just to see if what he is selling is actually the Frost. I still have hundreds if not thousands of Frost seeds i made over the years. I let go the mamma Frost a few years ago as i had her for so long and it was time for her to pass, plus i made seeds from her and like 4 generations after her and still have those genetics.
I've been telling people that ask not to trust this seed company, but to each their own. who knows, shit might actually be killas.
I still know couple uncles that grow, but most times if they still smoking they like the stuff i have. Most of them are medical now, and grow the latest and greatest. i guess i one of those uncles now, but the new generation is a trip lol.
a hui hou malama pono and drive fast suuuuupppeee :D

They know some of the history, like they are putting together small facts, but the part about the leper colonies is false for the Frost. That weed was called Molokai Leper Weed. I still have contact with the guy that gave me the strain. It seems kind of odd to me that that he would know all about the part about how the strain came from Molokai to Big Island but NOT that he shouldn't be selling it. He just trying to make money off of other people's knowledge. At first he was saying stuff like the Frost was around for a long time and all kinds of people were smoking it back in the day which is not true, because the name was never the Frost until it got to the BI. I haven't looked at the rest of the strain descriptions but i suspect that he is sensationalizing those also. Just leaves a bad taste for me. alright shoots

Most of it was just pieced together from various posts on the forums. His frost story was way different before and It wasn't until surfd set the record straight on the farm that he started adding the bit about it coming to the BI.

For anyone who wants to see a few more Pua Mana seeds play out...I started a thread in the outdoor growing section called Bay Area winter/spring crop experiment 2018. I threw a pack of Alenuihaha, which is their Maui x kona. I got 4 females and they are now about 6 weeks into flowering.

6 weeks.
They should be far enough along to have some kind idea if they are real or some bag seed as some have claimed.
What's your take?

I’ve never grown any other Hawaiian strains before, but I’ve seen a lot of the strains around for the last 25 years or so. If I had to guess now I’d say I’m gonna love at least one of them. These plants, though six weeks in, are just starting to show flowers because I put them out at just 5 weeks old. I love their form, especially the two stretchier ones. The smells from stems are keeping me coming back for more. They’re growing side by side w 4 females of PCK, and they’re all keeping pace. I’ll have more of an opinion when I’ve got some resin to sniff, and I can see if what I got matches the descriptions available. I have a couple of old timers in my circle to smoke test these with when that time comes. But is it bagseed?...who knows? Swami/Greengenes cherry bomb was Maui Wowie bagseed before bred out to F15 or 20. Folks say that’s a great strain, though I haven’t seen it yet. Those beans just showed up, so I’ll have a long term comparison to do.
It will also be good to see the spread of genetic diversity, though I’ve only got 4 to compare. I will either have some plants I like or not, but this test may not reveal much more than that. I will post pics and folks can weigh in if they have observations.
Cheers

The pua mana ohana family have been bringing local flower from Big I to outer islands since the old days. Before 9-11 growers flew bud on big planes. after 9-11 they started going on small planes interisland. the pua mana ohana family are well known in underground smugglers circles for their good deeds during a dangerous time. the genetics and histories are the same ones my family knows.

I love Hawaii. The history, culture, people, and the beauty of the islands. I have been visiting frequently for quite some time, even got married there (small ceremony in Wailea, still happily married).

Anyhow, it would be awesome to have a real “Hawaiian”, someone point me in the right direction. bongsmilie

You can get Hawaiian in dispensaries now or grow your own if you have enough space for elephant size plants.

A good way to tell real Hawaiian is by the smell. Think of all the weed of the world as starburst or skittles candy, Hawaiian is the tropical flavored bag with all the sweetest flavors. Tropical strains are some of my favorite from the South American Panama Red and Colombian Gold to island bud like Jamaican and Hawaiian. I love indica and kush strains for sleep and Hawaiian sativa for daytime activities because it keeps you flying high and feeling happy.

Ahhh that makes sense now. Surfd is a friend of mine, and I shared the story with him, and now he actually knows my friend who gave me the Frost :) Funny how things work out. I'm not a member there that I can remember i think lol, but i usually only cruise a couple sites nowadays. Yep, Frost came to the BI and I gave it out to the world with my friend's blessing. He gave me ten seeds, I gave out five to BigIslandBud, a known grower at the time on Overgrow, then grew out the last five, the rest is Frost History :D aloha bro

Whats so special about the Moloka`i Frost?
Aloha, i think i will pull up my thread on I C M A G if you are registered there. That thread will give you everything and more about why i think it is special, rather than spend 20 minutes here writing that shit up :)

Pluuus, i can reiterate about how i felt the Molokai Frost should have been given out rather than sold. If i was 10 years younger i would seed a couple pure Frost plants and send out thousands for free like i used to do, but aahhhh, no more time already hah. ok a hui hou peoples, was nice to at least log on this site again, just been a lurkin :) malama pono, oh and just to let you guys know, Pua Mana Seeds never got mine, or my friend's blessing to sell the Molokai Frost. Cheehhuuu!!!
