Knowledge, please :)

Hey everyone, started germinating my kiwiskunk seed in soil about 3 days ago now. I tried to handle it as little as possible but i uncovered some soil and saw a little sprout from it. Could anyone tell me when i should put the light on it? I have just a 40w light for its early growth stages and i should be buying either a high pressure sodium light soon. Could anyone give me recommended distribution of light and water techniques? :)

no offence mate but you need to do some research.

start with the sticky threads at the top of newbie central.

no one will hold your hand and spoonfeed you info if you dont research first

With regard to the light, look at nature, turn it on.

With regard to watering, small amounts, ph'ed to say 5.5-6.5, no nutes to start with.

Neither of those two needed to be stated if research had indeed been done though :)

It's been a while since i heard the use of the word bare :D slang seems to eveolve faster than i care for, kids seem to use sillier and sillier words :D

Trust me, i've done a lot of research :P i've watched 'I Grow Chronic!' and spent a lot of time on many sites. My main query is that i germinated in soil, and i'm a really impatient person so i was wondering if any of you had ever germinated in soil? How long did it take if you did?

this is my germination method.
1 pre soak seed for 6hours in ph6 water
2 plant seed 1/16inch into medium (i use coco)
3 water it in
4 place clear plastic bottle bottom over as a dome
5 18/6 using 6400k 24w T5
6 wait.

in 2 days seedling is up out of your medium. some ppl say no light but this works for me everytime.

i've germinated in soil to 100% success. i've found it can take anywhere from 4-14 days to break surface, seeds can in themselves take upto 3 weeks just to germinate, let alone grow up and out, so alas it is a patience game, don't start digging around in the soil :)

Dude ... Belive me ... No disrespect intended here .... But watching a video and reading a couple of web sites don't constitute as " research "

With the best will in the world ....It takes months ... YEARS befor you can say that , I bet if you have been reading for 5 hours tops ..thats all you have done ... And in that time you will be getting mixed opinions form lots of people with diffrent levels of expert knowlage and lots of misinformation .

J-Mon Give you the best bit of advice by pointing you to the Stickys ... PROVEN technics that work and are put there for noobs like us to wade thru ...J-Mon Is allso a respected helper here that goes out of his way to help people with questions ... so any slang name calling will only be met with pich forks here fella :)... Be nice ... take the advice ... and read more ... LOTS more :)

Now heres my advice as an inexperienced grower thats done some reading and watched a few vids ....
You said " i'm a really impatient person " ...... If thats the case ... Throw your seeds away and give up right now befor you pile a shitload of cash into a project that will NOT suit you ... and go back to smoking :)

This requires massive amounts of patience ... with people ... as well as waiting while you build up your kit ... learning ...and the actual growing process .

I wish you luck ...and hope this has given you something to think about :)

Welcome to RiU :peace:

patience is definitely key. without patience you will fuck up your grow and stress out the plant, which causes hermaphrodites, which you don't want. Lighting and watering is basic stuff, you clearly have not done the required research. Like vento said, even after months of researching you can still learn alot from the guys on this site.

Vento you are making me blush lol

Thanks for the respect Vento.

As you have said in your post research research research.

I never stop doing research and as you have said i try to pass on my knowledge that i have either learned or read about.

alot of my research comes from URBAN GARDEN MAGAZINE which is packed full of helpfull stuff.

PATIENCE IS ALSO THE KEY.

My current Grow is timelined around 118 days from start to finish. So its not a quick thing as this is around a third of a year to get yourself some smoke.
Another of my ladies will be around 140days start to finish (damn sativas lol)

When you think you have read enough read some more. When your eyes are tired shut them and when you open them read some more and more and more. Then repeat.
