Kingbrite 301b with or without epistar 660nm ?

Hey all about to pull the trigger on 2 kingbrite 240w quantum board kits.
I already have 1 240 watt hlg qb kit that is begging for a few friends...
I dont have the money at the moment to buy 2 hlg 240 watt kits for 350 bucks each so I'm hoping these kingbrite 240w kits will be just as good as the hlg...
I will be flowering a 5x5 vivosun grow tent With 9 plants.
I would like to eventually give my plants the emerson effect and UV my question is would I be okay getting the cheap Epistar chips or should I just get the 301b boards with no added red ?

Which kit would be the best buy ? Will the epistar chips actually make a difference or would I be better off getting 301b only and then add cree 660nm 730nm and UVB/UVA?

I would go with 3 of these boards and a 600w driver for that space. IMO 5x5 would be pretty dim in the corners with your suggested lighting configuration.

Ooo ok that will kill it

Buy drivers locally, where they can be returned under warranty if necessary. Shipping back to China for warranty is cost prohibitive, if they even take them back.

I'd go with the lm301b's with the 660's. I run a Meiju variant of that board and it grows dank.

Id avoid the integrated epistars, they are low efficient. Its a better bet to check out the the kingbrite qb11 range, colored cree monos. Id add both 630 and 660nm strips.
And maybe some 730 but on a separate driver.

Except they do, my friend notthesnicklefritz got money back from them for a faulty board. He got six of the 240w units and one didn't work out of the box.

Money back is money back, and it IS possible.

I would avoid the cheap 660nm LEDs. I just ordered a couple of QB18 supplement boards so that I could keep them on a separate channel. I'd prefer to be able to turn off the reds and turn on blue and UVA supplements instead for the last few days of flower.

I'm going to run four 260w kits in a 5x5, one at each corner and a couple QB18's down the middle.

I just found out on another thread that HLG is coming out with new 3umol/J at system level boards in February. I currently have two 260w kits and was going to get a couple kingbrites for the other two, but now I think I'm going to just wait until my next flower cycle and order from HLG.

Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back on and respond. Christmas was hectic for me this year.

I saw kingbrite has the 2020 boards out now with the red/uv switches.
With cree diodes and 301b its 152.00 usd

With the 301h and cree diodes its 164.00 usd

Are the 301h diodes worth the extra price ?

On another note... would I be better off ordering through hlg and getting a few qb132 v2 kits or a few qb96 ?

Are the kingbrite 240's or 300's or 320's compatible w TrolMaster?...Which begs the question to get the 3500k with or without "Epistar".. whatever that is. (Red)
My hlg 600's have r-spec. Are the "epistar" the sane as far Red?

Yes man.... Meanwell drivers that they use are all 0-10V dimming so they'll work. Its not the LEDs you need to be checking, but the driver.

Not all of them, some of them are 1-10V and wont turn off completely but i think there are trolmaster relays for that aswell.

HLG uses osram/samsung for 660nm reds,
i think i read somewhere that 1 osram 660 is equal to 4 epistar 660nm. the osram will last longer with a better peak while also maintaining its light output for longer.

imo using samsung diodes with epistars is bad idea since epistars lose their lightout put quite quickly compared to other 660nm diodes and they are less efficient
