I am growing in the unfinished/boiler room side of my basement, closed of from the livable side of the basemet which also has the stairs to the rest of the house. if i have 2-3 plants growing i put one of these in the unfinished side of my basement will it keep odors from reachin upstairs and blowin up spot?

car air filter + dryer duct + activated carbon = less than $20 and no smell

Someone posted a thread about it in the DIY forum.

I'm telling you guys the ONA is meant to neutralize pot odor that's what it was made for!
It works really well. One little block , leave the cap half on, will stink up where ever you want it. Different smells like cotton or fresh breeze. The big thing is its cheap. 10 bucks i think for the smaller blocks. I used to just aim my fan on my block. Works good in your car also.

As for odors from the basement. You need to be careful of drafts going up the walls. If you smell pot at all upstairs it means you have a draft somewhere in the basement. When cold air enters the basement it forces the warmer air, with the smells, up the walls and through the house.
