Kief Catcher

Hey, I want RIT's opinion on kief catchers.

I have a great 4 piece grinder with a kief catcher, but I was thinking of just purchasing a 2-piece sharpstone. I mean, is a kief catcher really necessary? If you're saving your kief you obviously won't get as high during your session. I agree kief is great to toke to, but another thing is how hard 4-piece grinders are to carry. When I am in a session with people the 4 piece always sticks out, what are your thoughts and what do you own? Also space case is not an option for me, way too overpriced.

I gotta have my kief catcher now i use one now due to bong water sitting in my safe and keeping my grinder nice and wet..burried for a few weeks lol shit went down but either way i honestly think ull get the same high no matter what? But bra who sticks out with a 4 piece ur the one lookin like the bad ass..

My research shows they are worth the money,just do not get the titanium coating(mainly aethetics).

What do you mean trying to suppress childhood trauma? I vaporize at least once a day.

I have a 4 piece as well but it always stays at home. If you don't care for the kief get a 2 piece, if you do keep your 4-piece. You will waste a lot of thc glands with a 2-piece though in my opinion.

you bring your grinder with you when you go out? i keep my grinder at home and mostly use a dug out one hitter on the go. now if its more than just me puffing on the go then either pre grind, pre roll, or just use someone elses grinder but you may lose some keif oh no lol.

I have the four piece also, It is also a home fixture only. I use a dugout when I go out. Where have I heard this before?

When I want to get extra wasted or I'm trying to impress other growers, I grind my bud, then mix my kif into it, then put it in the dugout. It concretes up the dugout bud a bit, but it's worth it.

Hmm, I see. I carry my launch box to sessions, I try not to smoke unless that's the only way.

I have a very nice 4 piece grinder, grinds great. However, the screen gets clogged with kief and I collect very little from it. So for my money I would not spring for a 4 piece, unless, you find the quality of the grinder to be significantly superior then I would spring for it.

My first very nice 4 piece had that same problem. It turned out the screen was no good, they didn't use a size to allow trichs through. My second one works beautifully, and I still have it 14 years later.

I ended up cutting the screen out of the first one with a razon knife and it now sits there as an unused double depth grinder/storage box.

Oh I see, well my screen works great, especially when I shake with a coin, then I get a hell of a lot of kief, but I feel like if you are saving kief you are just going to get less high when you toke.

I usually process half of my stash (Sativa) with a 120u bubble bag and make some nice dry sift kief with it. During the day I dab my blond kief (almost full melt) and at night time I roll some joints/or do some bong hits with the mj I used to make my hash.
I find I do lose some form of the high but still get my couchlock high at night from the used up MJ so I can get decent sleep
I do have a nice 4-piece grinder but since I got the bubble bag it rarely sees some use. I still use it everyday but I took the kief catcher part out. So it's just a 2 piece grinder now

I tried a 2 piece for a while and it just doesn't work the same. The 4 piece operates smoothly while the 2 piece gets stuck and won't turn if you put in too much bud

i love my sharpstone 4 piece. its what i use everyday. i dont take it anywhere since i normally just take big bong rips and are good for hours on end. but i also have a small, little bigger than quarter size 2 piece space case that i got through a trade. its nice but i never use it. i just love my sharpstone to death. the space case is nice but its an older one thats not magnetic so it isnt the best. but it does do its job. i feel that the keif that normally gets knocked up will get stuck on the teeth of the 2 piece and just give you hashy teeth. i feel the trichs will fall off no matter what grinder you use. i also feel that the 2 piece ones just move your weed around in them not really grind it up much depending on the teeth.

does anyone make iso hash with your grinder when its dirty? or the screen is cloggy

i carry my 4pc with me. stick it in back pack and out the door i go and no one ever knows i have it. when it comes time to bust it out and load something up well... i can just do it inside my bag so no one sees anything. 4pc is a must have. I love kief. Its my reward for not dipping into my catcher after I run an ounce at least through it I have quite a bit of kief. What do I do with the kief? Well besides smoking it.... I like to press it between two pieces of wax paper folded to like a little envelope... Stick it under the insert in my shoe and then go for a long hike. After a few hours of walking when youre ready to turn back bust out that piece of shoe hash and have a stellar buzz for the hike back.

I get just as high whether I use a 4pc or a 2pc. If your gonna use a 2pc grinder though you may as well just use a shot glass and scissors because you will be losing kief with the 2pc. With the shot glass the kief generally doesnt stick to the glass and when you dump it in your bowl or whatever you get everything, nothing is lost to the grinder.

I do not use coins on top of my screen, ive damaged them before like that ESPECIALLY if you put any pressure on it you risk popping the screen out of place. Some are ok to put back in, some just wont at all and your grinder is ruined. In my experience the best grinder ive EVER used was an EB Grinder. This thing was 45 bucks at the headshop (over prices, its $30 online i think cant remember but its def cheaper) and a beast of a grinder. Im not sure of the screen size but I think its 100 micron... No plant material goes through WHAT SO EVER. NONE! Even if you force it through with your fingers or a coin very little gets through. I usually just leave my kief compartment ALONE... No disturbing it. Also, when you grind up your bud, dont just grind a quarter gram for your one bowl pack then dump it out. Your losing a lot of kief that way. Ok, not "losing it" as its being dumped out, its just not being collected... I find the kief builds up 5x faster when I grind an 8th at a time and leave it all in there until its all been used, then another 8th goes in and the process repeats. By the time youve run a half ounce through your grinder (which dont take that long!) you have a sizable amount of kief you can press into hash!
