Got the heat mat in a few days ago and started off some Ceres Seeds White Widow. 2/4 have popped so far. I plan on growing them indoors until it warms up enough outside to move them out there. I want to super crop the hell out of them indoors. Excited but worried at the same time I've probably got a good 4 months ahead of me before I can kick them outside these things are going to go nuts and turn into monsters....

all seriousness. u dnt need it inside that long to have a monster plant, a good 6-8 week start inside is more than enough, these plants grow very fast, and u will easily have a monster plant . u can try it out but imo u r wasting time planting this early.idk do what u prefer but just givin the heads up, u will be spending alot of unecessary time caring for ur plants

Unless you have unlimited space & resources, and are shooting to a 10lb'er, this is a little early.

peace

I hear ya! I'm just really anticipating the new season I wanted to get going on something. I opened up the ziplock bag today and 3/4 seeds have popped now, but the original 2 haven't moved out of the shell anymore than when I first posted, kinda got me concerned a little. The bag was super warm from that heat mat and almost had a "fishy" smell to it. I took the 4 seeds out and went ahead and planted them into the Dome Planter with the heat mat below it and cut the grow light on. I'm hoping there's nothing wrong with them. They haven't "sprouted" yet per say with a tail, they kinda look like a clam's "foot" sticking out of the shell if you know what I mean. Went out and scouted some more today and found "site B", about 5 feet away there is ground water springing up out of the ground so I plan to dig a nice wide hole near it, fill it with good soil and hopefully never have to water that site this season! Any thoughts on the seeds popping and then stopping? I know cold air can do that to them but these babies have been warm(probably 80 degrees) the whole time.

If you've already started i would clone each plant and harvest them and decide which pheno u like best and then start them indoors. Its gonna be 5 months b4 u can put them outside unless u have greenhouse or very far south. Thats way to much veg, plenty get 8+ ft without headstart indoors, they can only get so big before bringing on problems like snapped branches, promoting mold b/c of lack of airflow and pest.

I plant on taking some clones from the Widow I'm starting indoors if everything goes ok with germing. From there I'm just going to crop and super crop the hell out of it.

I would say it is a bit early, too...but understand you're Jonesing for the SEASON! I, too am going to start a tad early, but to grow my babies nice and bushy indoors and then cut clones (I'm very good at this.. :) ). I'll have my big plants, some littles and some for my friends. And backups for problems...which always seem to arise! No matter, they all start to grow around mid July like gangbusters and take over and the little ones catch up with the big ones anyway. I worry for no reason about that, and they always show me I've suffered for no reason!

Glad to hear of an experienced grower starting early and cloning, because that's exactly what I decided to do! Sort of seemed a no-brainer, and that's usually when something jumps out and bites me later. :-)

You are so right about plants catching up. Brought home one clone that was about 12" tall and 4 that were about 5" tall. They are almost the same size in less than a month.

Even if the experiment is a total failure, sure is fun watching them grow during the dark days of January!
