Kegeration

Yo Donkey here's those pics!

So lets see, we got:

1 - outside view of the kegerator out in the garage
2 - outside side of the shank with the tap handle, rockin the 1554 handle at the moment but it's Sierra Nevada Pale Ale inside
3 - Both doors open, got the keg and 20lb tank down low along with mixers in the door, got a freezer full of glasses there on top
4 - the inside side of the shank where the beer line hooks up
5 - coupler on the keg, red line is CO2, clear line is the good stuff
6 - dual gauge regulator, red CO2 cut off switch, the screw on top is the micro adjust for the psi
7 - another shot of the regulator, you can see I've still got plenty of gas and we've run probably 15-20 kegs through it
8 - keg and tank sit on that wood which sits where the lower crisper drawers were back when this fridge was only just a fridge. Just enough space down there to stash a couple of backup cases. Wine and mixers go in the door
9 - you know I had to pour one up since I was down there!

Cheers!

No problem man. I love mine. Excellent investment. There's something magical about heading down to the garage and pouring up a draft

Fuck yes. Best believe when Carwin and Brock face off this mother will be dispensing the liquid goodness. Damn I can't wait to move back to civilization where people actually follow MMA. Up here in the mountains if it ain't on a snowboard no one cares

Yup we got one at the bar I work at. 3 bottles worth of nasty-ness! If you get a big fridge like I did (as opposed to the little dorm size ones that just barely fit a keg in them) you'll have the freezer. You can keep all your spirits on ice

Ha thanks Bomb, if you like beer, you should get one

Yo Donkey, if you wanna post my original message running you through my setup feel free. Others might care about the nuts and bolts of it too, and for whatever reason I can't access any messages I've sent or I'd do it

Re: kegerator

Whats up dude. So what I did was buy a fridge for $75 and a kegerator kit off Ebay. I don't recall the exact amount the kit cost, but it was under $200. It came with the coupler that attches to the keg, CO2 hose, beer hose, a dual gauge regulator, and the shank which is what goes through the side of the fridge that has the handle on the outside and the beer hose attached on the inside. Drill your hole, and hook it all up. My kit didn't come with a CO2 tank but I bought a full 20lb CO2 tank off Craigslist for $75 and I've had the kegerator for over a year with a keg always in it and haven't had to re-fill it yet. So as far as I can tell it uses very little CO2. I've heard around a month-month and a half quoted for how long a keg will stay good, and that's a normal "keg sized" keg. Half barrel they call them maybe? I have 2 other roommates and we just split the kegs between the 3 of us. The longest we've had a keg last in there is about a month so we haven't had any issues with kegs going bad. If you're concerned just get the smaller "torpedo" sized ones. Overall it's an AWESOME investment. Every month or so we each throw down $30-40 and drink virtually unlimited quality beer. Our here in CO the microbrews (aka good beer) are like 8 or 9 bucks a 6 pack. So you drink a 6 pack a week and it pays itself off, and we definitely drink more than a beer a day! We've got a little tip cup in the freezer (where we keep the frosty glasses) so anyone who comes over can throw a couple bucks in for some beers. Ha as long as your friends will shoot you a couple dollars when they jack your beer you shouldn't have any issues. I can take some pics of it for you if you want. Sorry about the long response, but I love my kegerator!

there ya go

Yea if you don't have the space the little ones work well, you can get the little 5lb CO2 tanks that mount on the back. But if you've got the space the bigger ones are nice. Every now and then non alcohol stuff will get stored in there for a bit after a Costco run or something. Or if someone brings over a case, it fits nicely down in that bottom space. Mine isn't even technically a full size. I'd say it's a 3/4 probably? Might be called an apartment size to some? It's obviously big enough though (thats what she said )

Haha its a nice thing to have around.

Donkey I just thought of another awesome part of having a kegerator. Say you're going to your boy's house to catch the fights. Shit I need to bring beer! But since I've gotten a kegerator I forgot how to get ripped off by going to the liquor store and buying in small quantities like 6 packs... what do I do?

Enter growler. We've got several of these and if we have to leave the crib we just fill up a couple and bam! The partizzle is mobile! We always take a couple of these with us when we head to the slopes or a Nuggets game. Plus it's more environmentally friendly since there's no cans or bottles. Empties are for suckas!
