Keep my plant short?

I am going to try to grow inside a box that is 12x14x30 inches, obviously I have size constaints. I was wondering if there was any way to keep my plant on the smaller side of things without getting special seeds? Right now I plan on using just left overs. But if you know no other way then what type of seeds would you recommend? Thanks to anyone who responds.

Soon as the second set of "Real" leaves shows, go 12/12 then, it will probably get a foot tall or so , but just 1 big cola, 1/2 oz if its rockin good.

nodrama i also like your idea, this is going to be my first grow so I think i will try your technic first, just to get one harvest under my belt. Then I will try chews idea, but idk decisions decisions. I just want to confirm your idea. I would basically grow them in vegitative state for a few weeks until they reach the height I want then go 12/12? Seems like I would not have to wait long until i harvest them, which is good. Like i said this is my first try so a shorter time table is nice bc i want to get one under my belt.

When you refer to the "real" leaves you mean the second set of fan leaves right?
He is referring to the true leaves. From seedlings their are false leaves called cotyledons. When I start from seedling I wait till I get 3 sets of true leaves then enter into vegetative state.

Im kindof in the same spot as you are man. Only i have roughly 24" by 36" of growing space. My babies are about a 5 weeks old, and one is really takin off, but the other two are still about 5" tall. The big one is really starting to worry me though, as its already about 10-11" and has ten sets of branches already. MG soil grow, all makeshift setup, including the lighting(shit i had floating around in my garage--dont even know what type of lights im using but theyre working!!). At any rate, i think im gonna read up on the same thing, i dont have anywhere to switch the plants to when its time to flower, and i really want this shit to work out, as its my first grow ever. ill post pics within the next day or so that way u can see what i mean n just how ghetto this shit really is, lol.
