Keep leaves or cut leaves?

Had to register so I could chime in on this debate.
(6000w - 300 plants 2.5 weeks veg 1.5g per watt on average)
No offence mate but you registered to post THAT? I wouldn't start ruffling your feathers just yet!

You're pulling 1.5g per watt from 50 plants per 1000w bulb yet I can pull 1.25g per watt (easily) from 4 plants under a 400w bulb, meaning I can pull 1.25g per watt with only 10 plants under the SAME amount of wattage with the SAME amount of veg time.

And guess what? WITHOUT removing ANY leaves!

I'm afraid that's exactly how it works, no matter what else you say, you hit the nail on the head there, I understand if you growing 300 in SOG under 1 light, then you gunna have space issues's, but like you said, that's your style, I prefer to offer my plants the space, light, food,TLC, they require, all gives for a better smoke at the end of the day.

Anyway, thankfully i dont need to smoke whatever you push out to the streets, I have my own, well looked after, cared for bud to smoke.
As for pushing to the streets, I keep what I grow for personal use because I'm tired of paying these stupid ass club prices.

How can your plants "get as much light as possible" if you remove the fan leaves?
Well I found it works for more then one reason, 1. I get better air flow through the plant 2. I've noticed my buds are fatter 3. I don't have a problem with mold and I like to be able to see what's going on with my plants, not just a shit load of leaves.

That doesn't answer the question.

you for real? you take the leaves coz you dont want to look at them?

And I mean hell, my pictures show that it's not hurting the plant and I still get really nice size buds.
they aint as nice as you think mate, they are very average, you could be doing better, but the route your taking, i dont think it's gunna be anytime soon, Good Luck with your trimming, i feel my time is wasted here...

I leave the leaves on because ppl here told me to.... As long as they are not dead or near dead anyway.
Also read the cutting during flower causes stress and increases the chance of hermie. May have to experiment with it one day and see, but for now I leave them alone. Not like the added light is going to help a popcorn bud 16" away from a 250W bulb all that much..

Some ppl here also told me not to Ph my nute solution in soil because the soil balances the Ph... Wish I never listened to that one...

1) Airflow? You're growing auto's,they're too small to be bothered about airflow.
2) Not because of removing the leaves I'm afraid.
3) Mould is down to the relative humidity NOT airflow (mould spores don't grow without moisture).

I still get really nice size buds.
Really,you think?

I don't know what light you use but regardless, the one in DWC should be a damn site bigger than that.
The other is below average size to be honest, even for an auto.

You need to step up your game mate.

I have to agree in that regardless of how nice the buds are, and i am the type to say if i yield enough for myself then fucking making improvements, for a 600w hps those buds should be much much larger. With a 600w hps you should be getting cola colas, not permanent marker colas so to speak.

I do have a hard tim understanding your point about your buds being larger given that from grow 1 through to 3 you have progressively increased the lighting from 150 to 300w to 600w, of course they should be bigger buds.

i'm saving this for a future sig :eyesmoke:

fan leaves do not block light, they absorb it, they are the solar panels for the plant. please don't cut them. and the reason they die during flowering is because the plant is taking nutrients from those fan leaves. the serve a tremendous purpose. but what do i know, i only grow 40g colas.

I agree totally with your theory,I believe people should only cut if they have LST'd a plant in such a way, that they need to trim some of the fans out the way.but a naturally grown plant knows exactly what its doing,if she really doesn't want the leaves there, then they will drop off and die.
But as nice as those colas are bud,any monkey should be popping out 40g wet colas.Whats that?,a 8 gram dried cola? lol.I got a picture of a 3 dry cola on my other laptop.(also posted on here in one of my previous posts).
And I did NOTHING special to achieve this,it was a total freak of a sativa that took 16 weeks to flower.

Why are people making this a personal issue, I'm a noob trying to find the right growing style that's going to give me better then average size buds. I'm not trying to make a profit off my grow, just trying to have good meds on hand so I don't have to keep going to the clubs and buying garbage ass cannabis.

keep them on mate, only remove fan leaves& suckers from the middle & bottom of the plant to increase air flow or if they are more than 50% damaged. You're really hurting your plants full potential when you take too many fan leaves, I've seen this so many times. It can reduce your plants total growth by up to twice its potential.

Different styles for different strains and different grown locations - I'm growing TrainWreck as a 1st grow and on the promo video it says you have got to "trim this baby" in a Dutch accent - boy I have cut a lorry load of leaves off these gals just to keep them to a size that my shed allows; its bound to slow things up - for every leaf I cut four sprang up - when its hot and very low humidity in my shed the leaves tend to cover the lower buds, when I chuck em out in the little sun we get here it usually clouds over - I notice the leaves shift exposing lower buds. I have cut a lot of leaves but I still have a shit load on there as you can see, can't imagine what she would look like if I didn't trim - probably twice the size you say - well I agree maybe 4x the size but I aint got the room geeza. Don't cut any leaves during flowering as she will go back to 50% leaf production (I made the last bit up for shock tactics)

To cut or not to cut? Do what the Fook you want dood.

Look how this fan leaf has moved and is shading the cola next to the light - it's quite hot there and very bright, the fan leaf has moved down to protect the bud - presumably from drying out - the leaf is actually sitting bang on top blocking as much light as it can.
This is also the bottom end of a 200w cfl - you can see it gets brighter further up.
