OK i know what your thinking. Too much nutes right? All beginners burn there plants thinking more nutes equal more bud. Well here it is

I have two set-ups- one 20 gal container and one 10 gal container. I have six plants in each. I put ten gals of water and mixed in 3tsp FF Grow Big and 3 tsp FF Plant Food. This is about a week after sprout and i burnt everyone of the plants. Same thing with the 10 ten gal container. WHy does this keep happening with little nutes?

Maybe you should try 1/2 strength when feeding your little ones until roots start to show that always works in my grow room :-)

Im using a DWC with a drip system i have running 24/7. This worked AMAZING when i used GH 2 part nute system but when i switched to Fox Farm i burn more plants then not. Im using a 400 watt Apollo MH Grow Light. 75% power.

I've just did my seedling in a simalir setup and I got them in just ph'd ro water. For the first 2 weeks then ima bump it up.
I've posted a link many times and never get feed back :( I find it the very informative and has changed the way I grew.
Ill post a link and maybe you'll follow. Hth!

Ya, I'm with Chigga on this. I go no nutes, just pHed water until the the second set of true leaves come out fully, and then start them at like 250 ppm nutes and work up from there.

Edit to say: I agree with Chigga about no nutes for the first week or two, but I'm not with Chigga on the lucas formula.

Yeah, your plants need very little in the beginning even with light. I would have that 400w like 3 feet above the plants at that stage of life. With the nutes I wouldn't use ff cause that's mostly organic which is asking for trouble in dwc. Not to rain on your parade or anything, just speaking from experience... Organics in a hydro ssystem cause so many unwanted variables to pop up.

The first set of weird looking leaves is the cotyledon. This is a stored food source for the plant while it grows roots to find nutes. Until these wither up the plant does not need nutes and adjusting ph in plain water is an absolute waste. Nutes are taken via the roots and processed, different ph levels affect what different elements can be picked up but has nothing to do with water uptake.
I use botanicare pure blend pro, which is as close to all organic as u can get over the counter, in aero and dwc withno problems. The key is res temps.

You pH your water so as to not screw up your pHed medium. In my case I pH pre soak my hydroton. You may find it to be an absolute waste, I find it helps to maintain a consistent medium throughout my grows.

I use a mix of AN Sensi Grow 2 part in veg, and then AN Connosiouer 2 part in flower as my base, and then I use as supplements at various stages H&G Roots Excelerator, AN Sensizyme, AN Big Bud, AN Carbo Load, GH Diamond Nectar, Atami Bloombastic, American Hydroponics Dark Energy and AN Cal/Mag. My last feeding was as follows; Week 2 Flower AN Conny A+B 25 ml each, Roots Excel 3ml, Carbo Load 10ml, Big Bud 20ml, Diamond Nectar 10ml and Cal/Mag 20ml. Next feeding I'll sub in the dark energy for the carbo load and sensizyme for roots excel, and after week 4 I'll sub bloombastic for Big Bud, my current PPMs are at 950 8 days into flower. I don't believe in using the Lucas Formula because I think it's a lazy way to grow mediocre weed, It will never get you full potential from your plants or anywhere near it. I believe there are more stages to growth, than just veg and bloom, and that you have to feed different stages different nutrients to get the most out of it. This isn't my feeding schedule, I'm not that smart, but I do know someone who is. You also have to remember that the Lucas formula is funded and promoted by GH, that's like Mcdonalds telling you how to eat a balanced diet, coincidently of all McDonalds.

I don't think General Hydroponics has any thing to do with the Lucas formula funding and promotion, sure they like the idea of it and maybe jumped on the band wagon afterward. All I could find was Lucas formula came from "ask lucas" thread on cannabis world forum. He was/is a guy that answered questions and helped problem solve. Think he just pick GH cuz their cheap, to help people get good bud through a simple cheap method, for the thousands of beginner's thread about fert and issues with ferts.

You're probably right esoteric, I had that impression from reading the threads and there's a lucas formula website as well that's just plastered with GH stuff. And I never said it doesn't work, but I still think it's a lazy way to grow mediocre plants. But I'm a perfectionist so :weed:

Why do people go organic in hydroponics? I don't get it. You are introducing so many variable when they are not needed. Stick with GH, you can't go wrong with GH. Organics are for soil gardens as the soil needs to break down the fertilizers for you, in Hydro, not neccessary

Not necessary but very tasty. I just dont like the idea of smoking what some of those nutes are made of. I have run as close to full organic as u can get in a bottle for years withno problems. Temps are key and bennies are insurance.

I don't use it either. I just remember reading up on it when I read about on the forum. I stick with my own recipe like you were mentioning. All that trial and error wasn't in vain, if you know what I mean. And it sounds like you do.:bigjoint:
