It’s thought to be two phenotypes, but Katsu thinks that it’s genetic drift I believe. He talks about that on the Adam Dunn interview. It’s a good interview, I suggest listening. Makes sense why the katsu cut is ubiquitous when you hear his experiences as well. Bringing them together should be an interesting project.

To the best of my knowledge, the "Katsu" cut is an S1 of the Pre98, which is the "original" Bubba Kush. This is not gospel but what I've surmised based on conversations with the various players over the years. I purchased the "Katsu" cut in 2001 for $500 from GreenCrackMan site unseen via CW forums.

I think you're confusing me with Matt - he was the one talking about genetic drift. Since he wasn't really active in our online community and had already given out cuts of the original, I don't believe he can say with any degree of certainty which is which - there were others that were a lot more "hands on" that lead me to believe it's not genetic drift...

So the bubba kush I tried from hso turned out nice. It’s visually everything I had read about bubba, I got two phenos that really smell and taste similar, one being a fat indica looking the other looking a bit more hybrid. Moth read as berries, creaminess and a hint of turpentine. I’m looking for the coffee/chocolate kush though. Of the pack of pre 98 I got from you they were all slightly crushed except for one, I couldn’t tell until I soaked them in water and they swole showing the damaged equatorial line. All but one, she is above ground and cruising. She is my little miracle and will be my hope and dream lol

Thank you for clairification! I started second guessing myself after I had said they wer two seperate cuts... Seems to me you would know! Matt(bubba) is the one who found the original cut ? I have herd Josh D tell the story of the bubba but I forget how it all went...
Why is it known as pre-98? Is 98 when all the other phenos started popping up? I am very interested in the history and origins of the elites...

I have a sour bubba that is at almost 8 weeks... Terps are nice deff smell the sour in there!

So what are our thoughts and feelings on all the crosses? Dracarys, Bubbas Sis, Bubbas Breath, Bubba Pupil, Sour Bubba, Orange Bubba, Schromba, Key Lime, Xanadu.
I have Bubbas Sis, Sour Bubba, Xanadu, and Orange Bubba. I kind of want to get the Bubba Pupil. But I have Prayer Pupil and I can always make a salad.

Sour bubba was my first grow from him, killer potency, choco-diesel terps. definitely going to grow again. And I just sprouted some Xanadu so looking forward to that. The pupils look nice but i stay away from anything mass medical personally

@katsu_bluebird.. Nice job and thanks. Just jarred a Black Lime Bubba and she is dank AF and sticky/greasy. She was easy to grow. I'll throw up some nug shots at some point. Found two nanners at the very bottom and a couple of seeds. I need to lollipop more as my lights don't penetrate much and I'm perpetual so they're up high. I totally forgot to do my last clean up on my lucky charms and that threw more nanners than the BLB. Def my fault and not the genetics. they were in the back of my tent so I slacked on them. Can't wait to smoke this BLB. The smell is Dank AF, too much going on to describe. Will update after a cure.
