Katsu Seeds Dracarys 1000w HPS New Grow

Going to be growing 6 Katsu Seed Dracarys fem plants from seed in soil. All planted Wednesday 4/8 and 6 of 6 germinated as of 4/11.

I have grown a couple of times in the past with some success. I am a lot better set up this time so am hoping for a good grow. I have a 4x2x5 tent with a cheap led for veg. I plan to move the plants into a 4x4x8 tent with 1000w HPS and take directly to 12/12. I’ll pull a few clones from each plant so I can hold on to any favorite pheno that I might find.

1000w HPS has VivoSun bulb and ballast. Heard mixed reviews on longevity, for the price willing to try it out. If ballast dies I’ll have a backup ready. I have Sensi Bloom a+b and Big Bud. I have always used nutes pretty sparingly so we’ll see how this goes.
Below are a couple pics of how everything looks so far. I’ll add more later.

Feel free to leave any tips or comments as things progress.CDAAC69E-3ED4-4E2E-ADFE-AC61EE96F7AB.jpeg5DAC5E1B-5CE1-4018-A267-93B3AEE956C3.jpeg

Made the most of quarantine today. Fan for lamp hood showed up, so I was able to get that installed. Tested the tent temps for 2 hours post fan install, never got above 81f. Pre fan, the flower tent was getting up to 97-98f in 2hrs so that helped tremendously. Working on venting tent exhaust and lamp hood exhaust outside.

Seedlings are doing well. Four of the six are out, up, and starting to perk up. The last two were a little bit of stragglers. One is still working on popping open and the seed just fell off this morning. I added three more seeds that were thrown in as freebies, will be about 5 days behind everything else. Hopefully over time they catch up a bit.

Couple of pictures below, everything is kind of boring at the moment. Just a few more weeks and hopefully the pictures will be getting more exciting.

Quick update, all three of the extra seeds I planted have popped. The smallest is struggling a bit but has shown improvement over the last couple days.
I moved everything under the mh light two days ago. I had been disappointed with how they were growing in the veg tent using the blurple light. As soon as I switched them over they perked up and started to develop very rapidly. The blurple is only 235w compared to the mh 1000w. I do not care much for the blurple so I have been looking at some components to build an led for the veg tent. If anyone wants to share pointers on custom led builds or share their threads I’d like to see some of what other people on here have built.

Anyways nothing too exciting with pics. You can’t really see but they definitely are happier under the new light. Second pic is what I am have tonight, headband cookie or something like that. Tastes like pure pinesol and put me out on the couch. Not typically what I like, but a month into quarantine it hit the spot.18CF280C-6AEB-452F-B640-02FE7A1A7FBC.jpeg70E9E5BB-C86B-4106-9F0F-D2C77330D6AA.jpeg

It has been a little while since I have updated. Not much has changed, plants are coming along. I transplanted to a larger container a few days ago. Was a little worried with handling of plants during transplant but in the end all well. All plants have perkedback up after transplant and are growing well. Temps have been staying around 80f during the day and 68f at night. Humidity bouncing around in the 60s depending upon how the airflow is at any given time.
Below are a couple pics. You can see the three closest to the camera are the three I planted later and they have caught up completely to the others.

Nice grow! I'm running the exact same light in a 4x4 also. If I could change one thing, it would be to hang my light as high as possible to start.

Next time, I'll run a crossbeam through the triangle light hangers. Not using any pullies, s-clips, etc. I need every vertical inch possible! lol. Its killin it tho

Thanks, the light is working good for me so far! This is my first grow on this setup.

I have gotten rid of the triangle hangers and connected those two points with a small jack chain and still using the pulley system for now. I have a couple of small carabiners that will replace the pulley system eventually.

I am going to make another post about the soil issues I had recently so check out those photos if you want to see how I set that up. It gained me an additional 6-8inches.

Did you have any issues when your plants got close to the light? Mine is air cooled but I am still worried.

I've been keeping notes on this run since 3rd week of flower, first time I've ever done that. I did seem to have a couple that didnt like being within 20" of the light earlier in the grow. I have another thats about 16.5" away currently and its fine, but I also spin it around every few days so one side doesnt get too tired under the intensity.

Been a couple weeks since I last updated. Had an issue with the soil I bought. The store I purchased soil from was out of FF, so I bought another brand soil thinking it would be no big deal. Turned out the dirt was testing 7.5-8 ph and seemed to be causing nutrient issues with plants.

As seen in the pics below I began to get a lot of yellowing in leaves. I was able to find FF soil and transplanted to FFHF about 3-4 days ago.
Since transplant, plants are coming back around.New growth back to green and they seem to be growing well again.
