Just Switched to 1000w MH AND THE PLANTS STOPPED GROWING!! WTF?!

I was running cfls before and i switched about 2 weeks ago. At first i thought it was a heat problem. So i moved it 3 feet away from the plants and put a fan on it...didnt work. So then i bought some growbig and 1 of my plants ( the small wimpy 1) started growing but the rest just stopped, i dont get it because they look good.

( 32 sqare feet, 1000w mh, 18/6, water once every day, Growbig every other day, Super thrive every week, Good air intake, 5 gallon pots, fox farm soil)

Your light is running for 18 hours and then is off for 12?

If your running 18/12 you have really confused your plants. I believe the chemical - hormone that induces flowering is made by having dark cycle longer than say 9 hours (not sure how long it ireally is).

Thats alot of watering. And just chill your plant will be fine. Its just in shock. She will kick it back into gear.

I know it sounds like alot but my plants drink like sailors, plus i have good drainage

they havent stopped growing, they just stopped stretching.

It sounds like maybe rootbind. If they're in small pots they might just not have enough room to grow new roots. Another possibility is a pH problem, especially if the medium is all or mostly peat. For that I would get some calcium carbonate. You could use dolomite lime but you have to buy a big bag of it and it weighs about 50 pounds or something. You can get calcium carbonate in small bags from a wine brewing store. There's not much chance of overdoing it because calcium carbonate is not very soluble once a neutral pH is reached. Don't go nuts with it though.

yeah dont freek man, no light is ever to much light. 1000 is big so your good.

If you transplanted small plants into 5gallon pots and you dont see much growing going on. It could be due to the roots growing underneath the soil. 18/6 light schedule should be fine under the 1k MH. Just be able to control RH and room temp and you should be fine. Dont over water or over feed PPM more is not better when growing budd. Good luck and happy growing..

Like the other guys said your plants are compacting. I REALLY think you are feeding them too much super thrive. Under a 1000 watt MH you are going to have crazy root growth to support the growth your plant will do in flower. Don't wait too long to switch them into flower so your roots dont become root bound and your plants stays super happy. I don't know if your ballast is switchable, but if it is, pick up a HPS bulb for flowering.

Way ahead of ya, gotta love those switchable ballastst

5 gallon pots are plenty big. Fox Farm soil is pH balanced too, I checked their site. Watering every day does seem like a lot though. Have you tried going two or three? 5 gallon pots shouldn't need that frequent watering. Try lifting the pots and wait until they get considerably lighter than they are right after watering. You've probably got saturated lower soil, even though the top may have dried off. They'd have to be really huge plants to need daily watering with 5 gallon pots. It's best to let them go through a wet/dry cycle, rather than being constantly moist. It'll produce sturdier growth instead of weak lush growth that will flop over.
