I have 1 white widow that is on 8 1/2 weeks of flowering, if you've read my other posts, the trichs are barely cloudy and none are amber...but I needed my MH light that I have been flowering with since I started. I moved my MH to my new grow's veg room and replaced it with a 1000w HPS.

I know its probably a little late for the HPS to make any kind of difference is quality, but Im not ready to harvest these yet and HPS light is all I had available(which I thought was better for flowering anyway).

Pluged it in 4 hours ago, and I just went to check on the plant....its warm in there...about 85 degrees, but in that short period of time, all the leaves are drooping badly and it looks like the plant is dying.

Did I shock the plants? what the hell have I done?

Im going to leave the light on until someone responds with advice to the contrary...so please, respond quickly :(

Till then, I'll be in the corner crying.

Put a fan in there, and keep the light far far away from the tops of the plants, at least two feet, more if you weren't using a 1000w MH, going from lower-light sources to higher-light sources can stress the plant if the intensity is not brought up gradually.

Edit: and if it's 85 in the room it's probably like 110 under the light.

Its in a 5x3 closet with the door open and three fans running, I really don't think its a heat issue, and i'd say the lights a good 30-34 inches from the plant....its not TOO hot when I put my hand slightly above the tallest buds. But there was no gradual increase in the lighting(and it was a 400w MH :( ), so now that we know...is there anything I can do to help the plant, or do I just keep in on 12/12 and hope they pull through.

Grow happy: my first thought too, but its SH bubble unit

I'd just pull the lights higher for a little while and slowly move them down so they don't get so much intense light so soon.

1000 watt HPS for ONE plant? Wow, I wish I could help you. Is there not any way you can switch the lights back for a few days until you harvest? Maybe you can just harvest now? I've smoked a couple batches that were harvested cloudy with no amber and I though it was a pretty cool high, but that wasn't White Widow specifically. As long as they are cloudy and not clear, you might be ok?

they are drooping due to heat. you need to cool it down.

the 1000w isn't realy going to add anything to the widdow at this point, you're too close to harvest. it may add a few extra grams of dried weight in the end though.

lol, yea. It was originally two reasonably large plants, but I harvested one and I'm just giving this other one another week or so. But I needed my MH to start vegging on my new grow so it was either harvest early, or put up the HPS, I had no idea about the shock. The HPS is ultimately planned for the flowering phase of the new grow, wont need it for a month so I figured it was an ideal solution....
