hey guys/girls, I just started growing the other day. my friend gave me a seed (he said it was fly-paper-kush or something) I put it in some dirt and water just to see what would happen, and now (a few days later) it is 5in tall! ive been moving it to the window durning the day, to get light. but i think im gonna put it in a trash can and fix a light to the trashcan, then move it to my closet. but i wanna know what flowering is?, and when and how do i start it?? and do the plants smell? im growing in my dorm room and i dont really feel in getting caught lol. any info would be great!

Well... if i were you i would..... uhhh ( sorry stoned as fuck)
make a wooden box... or outa whatever that is a size you can through a couple things over and its not noticable.... with pc fans.. 1 for intake 1 for exast(computer stores or anywhere that sells computer stuff will sell these)
then find cell phone chargers that r the same voltage as ur fans...once u buy them let me know ill explain the rest...... you want ur intake on the bottom left side of ur box...and exast on ur top right

you want to get some CFLs....... for lights.. go to a hardwhere store...find some sockets.... you want 5000K-6500K lights(it will mark the K on the packadge) keep these bulbs 2 inches away from ur plant... keep these plugged in all the time same with the fans....

Yes there r female and male plants..... males have balls....females produce bud
There is Vegatitive and flowering.....vegatative grows the plant....flowering produces bud..... you can make a "carbon filter" to attach to ur fans so ur dorm room wont smell
but if u have ur light on 24 hours a day the plant will veg or on 18 hours a day like 6 hours darkness( if u get a cheap timer) and flowering u put the light on 12/12
But dont worry about smell untell you flower.... there will be almost no smell while ur vegging....

Also paint the inside of your box flat white if possible,
you start flowering when your plant has reached 1/3 of the height you want it to be.....So say u only have 3 feet of room high in your box...when your plant is 1 foot tall you would flower it....
also those computer fans r almost silent...
hmmm if you make a box like i suggested with fans.... and get some cfls in there...your plant should love that...Look over the cfl thread in indoor growing and get a look at peoples grows so u have a idea what to do.....

check out some of the grow videos on youtube.. that's a great place to start.. & by searching this site.. everything is here... sounds like your baby needs more light though.. it's stretching.. you can do a lot with cfl's in a stealthy dorm room type setting from what I've read.. I have no actual exp. with 'em though.. you can check out the sensi hash plant journal in my signature below for my current seedling project.. (I'm right at the same point as you, a few inches)

VERY IMPORTANT!! with me i started to be able to smell it up close at day 10 then a few days later my whole room was stinkin up SO IF THIS HAPPENS to you act fast!! go to the store and buy a few cheapo air fresheners and some arm n hammer. it will take care of the smell nooo problemo. also u need the right type of light. if u share ur dorm make sure ur roomate knows as well.

not to harp on you man but... why are you risking your future by doing something as ridiculous as trying to grow weed in your dorm room?... my biggest suggestion to you is dont do it and take that money you were going to spend and go buy a sack instead.
Check your state laws cause in my state cultivating just one single plant is a felony . So dont end up somewhere youll be smoking something and it isnt weed

thanks for all the info guys! I think im gonna buy some lamps and stuff tomorrow. and i talked to my friend, and he said if I grow it untill its about to flower, he'll keep it at his house. this way my dorm room wont start smelling too much! and i have another qustion, how much light should i give it once i buy a light? 24hours a day? or what? so thanks for all the help

after about 4 weeks switch to 12/12 for 8-10 weeks until 2/3 of hairs are dark (assuming it's a female) if it's a male you just wasted 14 weeks of your life tending to a plant, but maybe got a learning experience out of it?
it shouldn't start to smell until you switch lights to 12/12 then after about 2 weeks of 12/12 the odor will be undeniable, it won't smell at all during veg so it doesn't make sense to bring it to your dorm to flower... you can just buy a shitload of candles or airfresheners or you can make a carbon filter and exchaust your air through it.
