He fell in the yard twice & couldn't get up. I promised myself I'd to the right thing if I had too. He passed a week ago Thursday. :(
He went from 175 to 120 in a matter of weeks.
I think that's one of the hardest promises to keep we'll ever make . I tell myself to remember it's a promise made of true love and compassion when the time comes for me .

Our pets are a source of joy and comfort that doesn't come in human form . It's undescribable for me . They can't speak , only show their emotions through their eyes and their actions . They forgive and love in ways humans can't .

A good dog never truly dies , they're with us in our hearts and minds forever .

Oh man. I’m sorry for your loss. This thing sucks and never gets easier and I know that it doesn’t matter what anyone will say and not many things we can do to heal just gonna take time to mask the pain from this.

We have a Vet coming out to my property on monday to euthanize Bear. I finally made the call this morning. The hole has been dug for a couple weeks. This shits brutal.

Have you began to think about what breed you’re gonna pick up next? That is one of the only things that i find that helps to “heal”.

I'm going to hold off a bit unless something comes up that is "too good to be true". I have a very energetic male Beagle and my Fiance has a really cute/goofy Frenchy. Their company has taken a lot of the "Sting" out of our loss, but the emotional "Hole" is still there. Pay all the attention to Bear, you will remember that the most when the time comes. I'm sorry Aero.

I wonder if anyone has tried to make a ridgeback wiener dog. That would be too funny. But i’ve actually been talking a lot about maybe finding a shorthair dachshund. I probably mentioned this before but i grew up with them. My grandpa had a few of them at all times until he passed and he lived right down the street from us. But another Beagle. Hmmmm…… we had one only for a few years when I was younger. Prob gonna keep it in the hound group but no more ridgebacks for now. Ridgeback puppies are crazy don’t think i can do another right now.

Just googled it. Plenty of ridgeback/dachshund mixes out there of course lol.

Dachshunds are on my short list of favorites , I had one as a kid . She lived 17 1/2 years . We kept her slim , she ate Purina dog chow and whatever hit the floor . Total love bug but around other dogs she thought she was 150lbs . Loved cats and people . She bit two people in her life , both were assholes and were fucking with her .

Shih Tzu's and Chihuahuas make up the rest of the list , mostly because my best bud is a Shih Tzu and my family has had a few Chihuahuas . Chihuahua's aren't for everyone but they get a bad rap . They're possessive little shits when it comes to their humans .

At this point in my life though when it comes time for a new best friend I'll be open to anything on the small side who needs a new human to love them .
