i actually wrote about this in politics the other day, studies have been done about negative attitudes towards only certain social assistance programs.

no one really tries to demean those who rely on broadly targeted social assistance programs like social security or medicare or unemployment insurance, but means tested programs for the poor like welfare or "obamaphone" or food stamps do get derision.

newt gingrich called obama the "food stamp president" in a thinly veiled race bait. mitt romney tried a smear campaign saying obama was just giving away welfare and getting rid of the work requirement (patently false, but romney tried it). people like dangerlow call the lifeline program "obamaphone".

so why does one set of social assistance programs get derision and the obama label attached to them, but the other set of social assistance programs do not?

Read outside the box, OBama gave the phone unlimited access. Bush did not because he didn, t need the votes. I do see the twist, if you don't . They are not one and the same.
