Can electric companies catch timers for lights? Or do they only monitor the amount of electricity and not the times it is used?

if they could catch timers there would be a lot of old ladies getting busted because they want their lights to turn on at 7 p.m.... wont happen, so dont worry about it

yeah they can look and see the times a major energy spike happened. if an old lady has a lamp hooked up to one the 60w bulb isnt going to bring cops to your door, but 1000w spike at the same time everyday....might, but probably still wont. Its all done electronicly now pretty much from what I have read and unless someone asks to look at it like if a neighbor calls the cops and tells them they saw you bring in a bunch of weird lights, then they might check. I wouldnt sweat it if you grow relativly small.
