Just bought a 400W HPS. I have QUESTIONS!

I am growing in a crawl space in my basement it is 40 inches tall. My plants are growing in a enclosed Box. I just recently bought a 400W HPS Light.
Is 4 Plants to many for this light?
Can i use this Light for Veg and flowering?
Do i have to worry about fire or things like that with this light in a enclosed box?

Help would be appreciated

well, 4 plants with a 400watt HPS should do the trick, nicely at that. HPS lights are designed more for the flowering stage rather than veg. a few CFL's could probably veg better than a HPS light if the spectrum is right(6500k). Hps lights are in the 2200k range. the only other thing u'll need to worry about is if its safe(any wires exposed or setup unsafely) and proper ventilation. It may be hard to get good ventilation in a crawl space but very necessary with an HPS light since it gets very hot. Good Luck with your grow and keep us updated

What do you recomend for veg cfl's? im on a money budget so cheap would be nice. I also have a 120 W phillips agro-lite its blue. would that work for veg?
