Hello fellow growers! My first ? is about this light that someone gave me. It's a 13watt GE Helical (pic below) Is this light at all helpful? And if so, how many seedlings can I put under it when the light is needed? Another question that I have is about the plastic cups that some use for seedling stage. How many holes am I to put in the bottom of the cup? And can u tell me exactly where to put the holes? (pics below) Thanks 4 the replies, if any!kiss-ass

I don't even know where to start with this one.

Its to puny to be of much good.

The cup is fine. Put several drainage holes on the bottom sides of it using a pencil. Not on the bottom or the water wont go anywhere.

Skip the light, CFl are perfect for seedlings but that is one low watt light. Cups are good, but i feel if you start even new plants in bigger pots they have less root problems. I dont know how many you are wanting to start but stick with a spectrum of around 6500 for vegging/cloning. walmart has 42 wat "daylight" CFL's for around 6.00$. I would pick a couple of those up for sure. get to 3 to 4 weeks and start a good organic nute regimin. BMO, ebay only is the best thing that money can buy and they are cheap!!! search some threads on here for BMO and see what others are also sayin!! good luck

So about how many seedlings would I be able to put under one or maybe two of those 42 watt cfl's? I just wanna use the cfl's for seedlings because that's less energy burned. I have a 400 watt mH/Hps conversion kit and I'm gonna start using the mH for my veg. Does that make any sense? And being that I'm on a budget, I have to use these cups for right now! Where exactly should I put the holes on the cup!? Should I do it like the pots are done? Thanks for the info dudes! REPS to the both of u

As long as the water can get out of the cup all you need to do is put the holes in the bottom sides of the cup.

If it was me I would use the MH/HPS setup by itself. You don't really need more then that unless you want to add more for supplemental lighting.
