I just read 10 pages of this thread without realizing it was supposed to be about a failed attitude order...
Unfortunately, racism is a cultural construct that has existed as long as people have existed. People tend to fear things that are different--language, size, culture, skin color, the list goes on. At the same time, people tend to group themselves with other "similar" individuals, because it makes them feel safe, accepted, "one of the guys/girls" that sort of thing. It's just the way of Homo sapiens sapiens.
Now for the fun part--skin color is an evolutionary response to environmental conditions (this is not a discussion about evolution, you can have that somewhere else), and specifically exposure to UV radiation in sunlight. We all need some UV to enter our body and help synthesize Vitamin D production. But too much is harmful and will burn skin.
Within your epidermis is a substance called melanin, produced in melanocytes. This crystal-like substance regulates the amount of UV light that can penetrate the skin. When you live near the equator, where sunlight is direct and intense for many hours a day, the melanocytes release more melanin in the skin to block the light, making the skin darker. As you get farther away from the equator, skin color gets lighter because there is less intense UV radiation--but you're body still needs SOME UV, so there are less melanocytes and lighter skin.
Hence why lighter skinned individuals tan "better" than dark skinned individuals. In places like Europe, there is relatively little UV light that makes its way to our skin (we wear long sleeves/pants, the sunlight is less direct and present for fewer hours a day, etc). But, we still NEED some UV light, so our skin produces less melanin to admit more UV. When the summer comes around, your skin needs to block the higher-intensity UV rays, so it releases more melanin (based on exposure levels) to regulate the amount taken in by the body.
So, people who are descendent from Africa, Indonesia, Inida, Mexico, etc will have darker skin, because their anscestors lived in a region of high UV exposure. People descendent from Europe, Russia, northern North America will have lighter skin because their ancestors lived in a region of limited or seasonal exposure. It's really as simple as that.
Therefore, the development of an individual in modern society is centered more around the CULTURE from which they learn than from any perceived GENETIC differences.
Racism is stupid. Racism in an online forum about cultivating marijuana is even more stupid. Racism when you cannot see the person you are being racisit against is possibly the most illogical thing I have ever heard.
So don't hate your fellow man/woman because they talk different. If you can't understand them, ask them to write more clearly so you can understand. Maybe the problem is YOU, not the other person...
