Lookin' good JP! I'm subbed for the finale. ISS has a special place in my heart cuz it's one of the first strains I ever ran - also under a 400w Lumatek. I absolutely love the smell of it - like floral potpourri. After smoking it the room smells like someone sprayed air freshener. It's got a nice clean upbeat high too. I almost ditched the strain after the first run because it is a pain to trim. Lots of popcorn bud on the lowers. If you are into medibles, I'd suggest only trimming the nice upper bud for smoke and cooking with the lowers.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks guys!
I noticed your in boulder, thats real close to me dude. How long did it take for your ISS to finish flower. My caregiver who gave me the clones told me 8- 9 weeks but Ive heard longer from others. Im stoked for this to finish up! Your shed is looking good to dude you got a real nice setup

I'd need to look it up to be sure but I think they went around 9 or 9.5 weeks. I remember I pulled the first run too soon and the high was a bit "shallow". I like the ISS best when the trichs are about 10% amber.

Thanks for the compliment on the shed. It was a lot of work but it's serving me well...

OK - So I did look it up and I was a week off. The first run I cut at a little under 8 weeks and that was too early. The two runs after that I went a few days over 8 and a half weeks and that was just right... 10% amber trichs is the true gauge for me on ISS. Too early and the high is shallow, too late and (I imagine) the CBD factor would kick in and you would lose some of the "up" effects of the strain.

Great training work. Just my two cents, I would clean up a few fan leaves from the canopy to allow some light to penetrate to those buds just underneath the top. Plus it will let some airflow through. Once they start packing on weight, you may have some humidity and powdery mildew issues.

But wow, looking really good. Great job.

Thanks again guys! This is my first HID run and its amazing how much better they work i should have upgraded a long time ago. I was thinking pruning some too but I was worried about stressing them this late into flower. I pruned a bunch of under growth and lower fan leaves about 10 days ago. Also I just put the ventilation system on a different timer that will cycle it on and off at night because the RH was getting really high at night in the sealed environment. So I might just have to run it 24hrs a day later into flower to keep the fungi at bay. Any thoughts about clipping fan leaves though?? Ive read a lot of mixed messages about it. I also added 160ish(4 42W) watts of CFL below the canopy to help all the undergrowth. Feedback on the issue is always appreciated!!
Thanks

So I just pulled them out to water and decided to prune them a bit...since its a heavy sativa there are lots of stems that are lanky but dont really go anywhere..I got rid of all these and some of the lower growth that sprang back after the last trim...Hope the girls dont mind too much! the last thing i need is a room full of herm's cause I over thought it haha Shouldnt happen though. It went dark about 15 mins after I put them all back so they will have a nice rest to soften the shock a bit.

Thanks guys

I always do this. I know some people say it's not good for them but I've never had anything but good results. Not a lot of trimming, but just here and there, just to let them breathe a little, let some light penetrate down. I clean up new flower sites all the time, so my trimming is fast and easy. By the time I pull my plants, they have nearly no fan leaves left. I think this stress near the end frosts them up, but again, just my opinion. Let's see if anyone else chimes in.

All is comming along well. Friday completes week six. I was thinking of giving them their last dosage of nutes on sunday. Then two weeks of flush. I was thinking about molasses durring the flush but havent decided for sure yet. Any input / experience on this is appreciated. Also does anyone agree/disagree with this timeline? A few hairs are starting to turn so it looks like they are entering the final stages. but I dont want it to take 9 or 10 weeks to finish and not be giving them nutrients when I could have. Any help on this would be appreciated.
Thanks guys,
JP

Looking great jp. I just finished my flush. I was feeding molasses and calmag until the leaves started looking use up. Just shut the lights of this morning or the last 48 hour push.

I think the molasses helps. It really looks like the plant burned up it energy as opposed to just dying from lack of nutrients. You should consider a flush solution too, just to be sure you get everything out of the soil. Then just go with molasses.

Good luck!

Hey everyone. Back with an update and some pics. Its comming along nicely, and the girls are really starting to put on some weight. I ran into a little trouble when the power went off for like 4 hours. Luckily it was in the middle of the night so the light cycle wasnt affected but my heat went out and it was -5 outside so my house got down into the 40's real quick. On top of that, it took 36 hours for the shitty radiant heat to get the ambient temp back up to 68 ish. So all in all, my min/max reading in the room was down to 46 degrees. The plants seem to be doing alright though. No signs of damage, yellowing, shock, ect.. now that its been 2 days. Going to give them their last shot of nutes on sunday and then start the flush cycle on wednesday. but on to the goodies. Enjoy!!!

Looking great JP!

As you have shown, MJ is a resilient plant and can handle big temp swings. I lost power to the shed while I was away for the weekend once. Of course these things only happen when its cold outside. I came home to find the grow room down to around 32. The plants didn't even flinch. I think I was running ISS, Pure Kush, and Durban Poison at the time.

I did find the upper temp range for mj though. Luckily I only had one Sour D in the room at the time - about a week into flower. My exhaust thermostat failed and the temp hit 135. Not only did it kill the plant but it completely dehydrated it. If it had been closer to finishing I could have rolled the whole thing up and smoked it right there...

Can't wait to see your girls run to the finish!

Its a very nice set up but sir if I may say you are wasting that 400hps right now, see those babes are real small and a single 26watt cfl at the 6500k spectrum is enough for the first couple of weeks or untill the sites where the bud will eventually be begins to come around. Good set up tho love the stealth

Looking good, nice grow. I like your closet setup, I'm growing in a closet too but nowhere near as sophisticated lol. I'll stick around and watch the finish.

Thanks man. Im glad its so resilient to haha. I was a bit worried when it first happened. That cold snap we just saw was gnarly. Thats a bummer you cooked that plant but at least it wasnt a full shed! I cant wait to see them finish too! only 2 weeks or so.
Cheers

Thanks man I like my setup too. Its nice to have it automated. I dont have to check it for 3 or 4 days at a time. I think the 400 is perfect for my space. A bit big but bigger is better. The plants are actually about 4 1/2 feet tall and filling out nice and dense. CFL's would definitely not have cut it on this one. I have 4 42w CFL's near the bottom for some under lighting. I have grown strictly with them before and they are ok but hps far surpasses them, hps gives way stickier dense buds. They love it and Im happy i got it. There is always room for expansion. If I get another one it will be awesome in a 4x4 tent or something like that.
