JMD's #2 Indoor grow (hydroponic)

JMD, I would cut the bottom set of leafs off, and quite possibly the next set up from them

You have more than enough leaf structure to process the photons without them. Your plant will benefit from the air flow near the bottom

Still can't decide if I should trim some of the side shoots.. On one hand I want to try and see how it develops, on the other hand it seems to be VERY compact.

Go to my thread and look at my plants. All have low branch fan leaves removed (I keep all fan leaves down to 3 node, I clip the rest). Do they look any worse for wear?

If you look at the pic you posted, the lower leaves are not getting any useable light, BUT, they are taking energy/food away from upper growth

I don't doubt your skills - you have proven yourself just fine. Everywhere I've read, people warn against trimming autos as they doesn't have sufficient time to recover from the stress.
Which auto strains have you trimmed? I'm trying to gather as much information as possible, before I settle on a conclusion :)

She's growing really fast now and is started to smell quite a bit.

I had a frustrating experience with autos 3 years ago from a private breeder, but science is science (see Emerson Effect). The lowest leaf sets are clearly not doing anything, except taking energy away from the new /upper leafs, which are responding well- reaching up where lowest leafs are drooping

This strain is really growing fast, and it's quite dense. A lot of large white hairs have already been visible for the past week.
She measures 30 cm across now but only 15 cm high (that's 12 inches and 6 inches, respectively, for you imperial folks out there).

She has really gotten wide in the past few days! I raised the light a bit, to stretch her slightly.

She now measures 40 cm across and 30 cm high (16 inches and 12 inches, respectively). I dumped the PH to 4.8 a few days ago and took out a control sample of 1 liter. 3 days later the PH in the reservoir had climbed to 8.1, while the control had settled at 5.1. Is this a result of the nutrient intake of the plant itself, or are the other factors as well?

Other than that.. she seems to like it so far!

Trying to make an update every 2nd day - whether it's big or small. Tomorrow I will add 80W home made LED light, which consists of 8x 630nm and 4x 6500k 10W - driven below their maximum rated current, to allow for thermal drift.

So far there are a lot of flower sites

look good, is it the beginning of tip burn`s I see ? maybe lower your Nitrogen/Veg nuts a bit and up the P/K Instead now she have begun to flower

I thought so too about a week ago, but once the leaves grows bigger it disappears. She actually started flowering about 2 weeks ago because she's an auto :)

But if anything, I would think that white leaf tips might be the cause of Mg deficiency and maybe Zn. I might be wrong of course.

well if you have the epsom salt, you could try a bit and see, wont hurt anything with 1/2 a ts in your water/res

and I know you grow Auto`s, why I did suggest the lower N and more P/K (seem`s like my Sweet tooth auto like it that way)

Zink would be odd, as our Tap water should hold plenty, but who knows ? it should also keep a lot of lime but still not enough if I remember correct ? different strains also demand different "food" and levels of food and I also experience the LEDs make a different from my old 600W HPS, guess its both the intensity of the light, and the fact that the HPS grows made my water evaporate faster, and I also notice a big different from Reg. plants to Auto`s guess different grow mediums also make a small difference but mostly the strain play a hugh role IME

I will give it another shot of epsom salt, it's been a while since last time. Gonna have a look at my nutes to see if I can give it less N - it's a two bottle system, which are added in a 1:1 ratio (5 ml per liter water).

you probably have a part A + B or a Veg and Bloom bottle, use a bit less of the part A/Veg. nuts with the biggest first Number (N = nitrogen) and maybe up the other bottle B/bloom nuts with a higher second and third numbers P/K maybe 3-7ml

I use GH veg/bloom/micro in my hempy bucket, tho I use em according to the Lucas Formula so I skipped the Veg and use only micro (got plenty of nitrogen) and bloom in a 1-2 ratio there numbers is 5-0-1 and 0-5-4

with the Lucas formula you normally use em in a 8/16ml per gallon, but under the LEDs I had to lower that to 5/10ml and with the Auto I had to lower the micro (nitrogen) even more to around 2ml once it began to flower (week 3) as I got tip burns with 5ml

I'm starting to wonder if I should remove some of the lower leaves now, or just leave them. She's just over 5 weeks old now, which means that there should be about 4-5 weeks left.
The number of flower sites is crazy - there are MANY. The steam is now measuring roughly 3 cm in diameter.

The Hy-pro nutes I'm using consists of bottle A with NPK 3-0-2 + 3 CaO and bottle B with NPK 1-3-4 + MgO. Bottle A also have trace elements of B, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Zn.

I just hope she starts to get fat now, instead of continuing to grow!
