Jars for Curing?

Im flushing my first females ever, preparing for harvest. I'm curious if there is a preferred jar or container for curing? Glass > Plastic? Screw on lid or snap-down lid? Any good places to go? I tried wal-mart and their selection was weak.

Here's a couple pics of my AK48's/White Widow Day 40 of flowering:

i use Ball mason jars or the quart mason jars that Walmart carries. If looking for larger ones, google "Large Apothecary Jars".

nice lookin buds pal. i am a big curing enthusiast, and it definatly makes for a better and better smoke/high as the cure goes on. it is just as important as all of the other steps you take.

make sure you dry enough before you toss them in jars and open them once a day for the 1st week and air it out. (fan it out while rolling the buds to rid the moisture)

i recently did a side by side of cured and not cured bud and it was out of control how much better it gets when taken care of.!

I always try to find the wide mouth quart canning jars. The narrow ones are a biotch to get your nugs out of. Walley Mart and Meijers usually have a decent selection around me. Personally, I wouldn't start the curing process in a big jar. I think it would be hard for the chloraphil (sorry for spelling, need to learn that one). But, putting them in after the full 30 day cure would be cool, look cool too.

BTW........great looking plant! Nice job.

Happy Growing

I grew out some males to make pollen and decided to try smoking them (I'd rather smoke crappy homegrown than black market dank, but that's just me). After a week drying they were nasty and had nothing much going for them, maybe a short weak body stone. But after a month or so sitting in a jar, I was pleasantly surprised by how much more potent and better tasting the weed was. Still a slight chlorophyll tang but it actually gave a pretty good body stone and relaxed head that lasted for 45 minutes or so sharing a joint with another person. I'm talking mostly fan leaves from male plants.

Oh yeah, glass def better than plastic for several reasons especially aesthetically and environmentally (unless you have food grade tubs you can re-use). I don't know about plastic affecting the taste. IMO if a container didn't make the food ingredient that came in it taste like plastic it won't make your buds either, but that's just a guess it being my first grow. If I were going to buy a container for curing it would definitely be glass because it is totally inert, I like how it looks and feels, and I don't want to add to the amount of plastic in the world.

The plastic will leach into the weed. Blech. You can use jars from around your house but you need at least a week to de-funk them, unless you don't mind Smucker's wafting out at you when you open up the jar. We don't ;)
