Yes, the buds will feel damp after you put them in the jars,(you might have wanted to dry them longer, I like to dry mine untill the outside feels crispy, but the stems are still plyable and dont snap when bent) You will need to open the jars and rotate the buds a few times everyday for the first week. Once the buds become cured (evenly dryed) you can leave them in the jars untill your ready to smoke them.

i dried them till they were crispy on the outside but maybe my crispy and your crispy is different cause my stems were still pretty bendable so maybe i didnt let em dry enough
its my first grow so i didnt know how crispy to let em go but i do have another plant in the drying stage so ill let em go a lil more than this one, im shaking the jars each day so the buds are turning a lil

He also ment to let you know that you need to "burp" the jars once or twice a day. Meaning you need to open them and let the bud sit out for a few minutes and then put it back in. Helps keep down on mold and drys evenly.:weed::weed::weed:

You are doing fine that is suppose to happen.

Now is the time to get your buds to your preferred moisture level through burping the jars.

A few times a day open the jars to let the moisture escape and the air to exchange for a few minutes, then re-cap.
Keep doing this until you have the proper moisture for your liking. Once there you can seal it for the final cure.
The final cure is in letting your herbs cure in your airtight jars for 3-6 months or longer if done properly...

Yeah check out the curing threads, there are many and not 1 way is the best, it all depends on your circumstances.

Good luck.

Yes that happens, read the curing section, A buddy of mine just destroyed his entire first grow. Maybe 5 or 6 oz. by neglecting his jars. You have to care for them correctly.
you know what's sick? I actually felt relieved about it. I been growing all these years and get kinda good at it and he just slaps together a systems and grows these mondo healthy plants on his first grow in 20 years, I was downright jealous, I couldn't believe how easy he was making it look. Curing is a super critical art if you want the dankest buds on the block and it takes time.

so when its dry to my liking do i just leave them in a jar without opening them or do i still open then once in a while?

Correct. They say, that it is best when the moisture level is about 10%-15% of total mass. Well it is almost impossible to measure that.

But when at that stage keep the lid closed and vacuum sealed if possible, and store in a dark dry room with cool temps, below 70 if possible.

And when ready or should I say need to smoke open up and enjoy.

From what I have heard that if done properly, herb is best between 3-6 months of cure. Some have been known to open a jar that has been put away for a few years and it is just like it has been 6 months cured.

I have yet to put enough away for that length of time before I am in need. But hopefully I will be able to hide a small jar from evcery crop to test myself.

at that time would you say i could also put em in a vacum sealed bag instead of vacumed jars? considering i have a commercial vacum sealer with bags already lol

The problem with the vacuum sealed bags is it's a hassle to open the bag and seal it again. Grab a set of canning jars from the grocery store. They are nice and air tight and can be opened and closed easily. They can also be used over and over. If you're putting bud away for long time storage the vacuum sealed bags would probably work though.

Most of your commercial sealers have a air hose attachment I believe that you can use also for sealing jars with the proper lid attachment.

Jars all the way, if you can.

that is part of the curing prosess. dry them till you think they are dry then seal in jars for 24 hrs and open the jars to let the moisture that came from the stem out to the dry flower escape and repeat 5 times or so until the flowers are dry when you open the jar and they will smell amazing. happy curing

i open the jars for a couple hours twice a day
i hope thats the way to do it
or do you think its better to do it for 24 hours and open it once a day?
also how do you guys make out as far as ratio to how much your buids weigh before and after dry or cure? cause im supposing the buds dry even more when curing?
at least mine look like they did the jars are about three quarters full from wheni first put em in
