Jacks321 and npk ratios

I run a 12 bucket ebb n flow system with a 50 gallon reservoir. My mediem is hydroton and using 1000 watts veg and 2000 watts for flower.
I am planning to use Jack's 3-2-1 formula on my next run. This formula comes out to a 3-1-4 NPK ratio. After reading so much I am considering adjusting the formula to different ratios. There are so many differing opinions!

Found this in a prior post and seems to make the most sense to me.
Not sure where he found the "actual ratios of N, P and K that cannabis requires through its life cycle"???

It's worth stating for the record the actual ratios of N, P and K that cannabis requires through it's life cycle:

Vegetative Stage
N - P - K
3 - 1 - 2

Flowering Stage
N - P - K
1 - 1 - 2

Final Flowering Stage
N - P - K
0 - 1 - 2

To translate this into a 12 week schedule for a typical Skunk type such as Cheese or Psychosis would give something along these lines:

Veg week 1: 3 - 1 - 2
Veg week 2: 3 - 1 - 2
Flo week 1 : 3 - 1 - 2
Flo week 2 : 3 - 1 - 2
Flo week 3 : 1 - 1 - 2
Flo week 4 : 1 - 1 - 2
Flo week 5 : 1 - 1 - 2
Flo week 6 : 1 - 1 - 2
Flo week 7 : 0 - 1 - 2
Flo week 8 : 0 - 1 - 2
Flo week 9 : 0 - 0 - 0
Flo week 10: 0 - 0 - 0

Then you get the opinion that the ratio doesn't need to change if you are using a complete nutrient formula like Jack's, maxibloom, dyna grow, etc....
So what should I do?
Seems to me the purpose of using a 3 part system is so that you can fine tune your feed right? Or just use the proven ratio that Jack's recomends? (3-1-4) I would love to hear from some master growers. I know renfro uses gh, I am always interested in his opinion. Man knows his shit.

interesting post. i've been messing with nute ratios the last year or so.

Fatman's ratio was 3-1-2 for veg and 3-1-4 for bloom

Lucas ratio was 1-1-2 for start to finish

Jacks is same as Fatman's.

so in conclusion, i guess they both work pretty well or else nobody would use them?? lol.

In subermersible setups roots take up what they need as long as there's bot insanely high values of one particular part. With 3 part GH I just slowly add less micro(always some), slowly less gro(until week 3-4 where it's cut out) and more bloom. During veg it's pretty much just all equal parts of all 3.
But with the values being
Micro:5-0-1
Gro:2-1-4
Bloom:0-5-4
I kinda think for the mid flower PK boost, it might be smarter to add less and less Micro and actually MORE of the Gro am I right?

Jacks has more specific nutes now for transition, pk boost, flower, and flush...

I haven't heard from a single person thats tried them out though.

Not even sure if its a whole different blend, or they just altered the ratios of regular jacks product for you, in different bags..

I was considering getting a small bag of their flower mix, just to lower the N levels towards the end, which you can't exactly do with A & B without throwing off other ratios..

have you ever used an all purpose mix? i was on the dyna gro website and they have a 7-7-7 mix. i was curious how that would work versus foliage pro which is 9-3-6.

Ratios thru growth stages. (For Coco media)

Rough. I'm learning still...always. Lol
Untested....wip. dont try this at home.

The true NPK ratios are not listed, I still need to calculate them.

Never used an all purpose mix. I have used AN for WAY too long. I considered mega crop but if I'm gonna switch to powder, I want control. For me it makes sense. Been growing for long enuf. Started outside and now inside 8+. Jack's 3 part gives you control. 3-1-4 for veg and early flower seems perfect to me.
I have been been using the spreadsheet made by renfro and crunching numbers. I will blend into a 1-1-2 NPK mid flower. See what I get for results with a familiar strain? Thanks guys for the game plan! I love the RIU community! If anyone has more input, I try to listen to all aspects and opinions, then form my own opinion. It's gotten me this far! Lol.

@Renfro calc is an awesome tool. :peace: should be a sticky note!

I appreciate all your numbers. You say you are in coco, correct? Is that drain to waste? I run 12 ebb and flow buckets with 3 gallon baskets of hydroton in a recirculating system. I would expect differences in ratios would be necessary?

Very soon, that tool will be widely published in the public domain, with the author's consent. It'll provide a single location to get the most up-to-date version.

Information will be provided when this process is complete, and hopefully, we can get it in a sticky.

Hell yeah. Rep+ to renfro. Even tho I'm still waiting for him to chime in on my NPK post. I was hoping, LOL. JK renfro, No worries I'm sure he has other shit on his plate during the pandemic. Hope all is well. Keep it clean, and disinfected!

have you ever put H3AD's formula for Coco into a calculator? i'd be curious what that comes out to be.
Some formulas I've collected.
I have used H3ad with success in the past.

Ok, I think have my ratios set at 3-1-4 veg and early flower. Then to a 1-1-2 ratio wk3 of flower. Here is what I came up with.20200430_110341.jpg

So glad RDwC is such a dream to use. Just mix up a generally close amount to the chart I use for GH 3 Part and everything works out just fine with a nice stable pH to boot.
You love to see it.
