Jack's City Limits Formula with my Well water Analysis

@spek9 i have a 300 gal chemical tote that i have onsite for fire mitigation. i did some research and found out how to make my own slurry (the stuff they drop from planes/helicopters minus the red dye). it's just a common fertilizer: diammonium phosphate 18-46-0. one pound per gallon water. so i have 300lbs out in the garage if i ever need to mix it.

so Amazon finally had more of the Tap 15-5-20 formula this morning. got a bag coming. 1 kilo for $29
unfortunately, i'm not gonna start another run until end of summer.

the reply i got was from dr cari peters .

i asked her 2 quesitions:
advantages/dis of using City limits vs jacks 321

and is it true that Ca in well water is too big of a molecule to be used by a plant. i've read this in a few places and i've never gotten a definitive true or false.

she also said all my variables were within range and should have no problems.
Did the good dr. give you a definitive answer on the calcium question? Is the the Ca in well water to large of a molecule for plant absorption?

well folks, finally started up a grow now that the weather is finally cooling down a bit. using Jack's Tap this run 15-5-20.

i usually start my seeds in a small aero unit with 1mL DG foliage per gallon well. then as they get a few sets of leaves and decent roots coming out of the rapid rooters, i transfer to GH Waterfarms. i used 1 gram per gallon of Jacks and have the same EC: about 0.6 my well is 0.2

so i've got 2 citrus milfs from 313 seeds that are about 4 nodes high. and a new little lady Bad Girl S1 by twenty20 seeds just popped a few days ago.

so far so good. no deficiencies.
only using well water, Jack's Tap and southern ag.
i usually use BioAg cyto plus but i'm gonna hold off for a bit so i can see just how the nutes do.

@TintEastwood brain cell finally engaged!

Looks like a good veg mix.

And they say...
"This combination of nutrients will lower pH over time while including the extra soluble calcium, magnesium and the right balance of micronutrients."

If it helps to make PH stable for Tap users, should be win-win!

so far not dropping pH by itself. let it mix for 24hrs and pH was still at 6.9 dropped it to 6.1 and gonna see how it goes.

i know the cyto plus dropped the pH (humic acid + kelp)

so i updated the flower room: added a 4' wide vivosun 6 mil diamond covering . was previously just white paint (cheap basterd). waht a difference! way more light at plant height now.

@TintEastwood they aren't kidding about this!! holy crap, it stays stable for a few days and then drops into the mid 4's. not too happy with that at the moment. gonna try to run it with Si and see if that helps it stay closer to range longer. if not, this might not work too well.

they are growing very nicely though so it does seem to be a great veg ratio

Hmm. Weird, to me. Having used tap, RO and a combination of both for the past 3 years in coco, I have never experienced my PH creeping down. GH, Megacrop, Jacks...It's always creeped up. (faster or slower creep based on how stable)

Stopped using tap, because of random seasonal/monthly fluctuations in TDS and PH. I have enough flippin' variables to deal with trying to grow weeds. lol

i ordered a bottle of GH floranova last week to have on stand-by if I can't get this to get under control a bit better.

just a quick update: i added some Si into a half-filled res which seems like it has stablized the pH dropping. been a constant 5.5 to 5.8 so far...

about to drain this res today and add Si first and see how it reacts for the next week.

Si is nice for bringing ph up, I just don't know how long it buffers for. as long as its in your res right? From my experience, if I don't add si first it'll lock some shit out in the end. Fwiw

yeah, i try to add it first . but i took the amount i needed and diluted it in a gal of water before adding to res. kinda just wanted to see if it would help at all. and i think it buffers as long as it's in there. i do DTW so it's always in the res.

you should be fine. I would have to guess nutrients just don't like the shock of ph going up or down too fast. so diluting it so your ph doesn't change drasticly over seconds when u add the si to your res would be a good idea.

so just a quick update: 2 plants (citrus milf by 313) went to flower 2 days ago. neither one showed any defic with just nutes and Southern Ag. did try some Armor Si just to see if it helped with pH stabilitly.

overall vote; very good nute for veg. was not happy with pH stability ( i have a strict guidlline where it has to stay (mostly) within range for 7 days). i will definitely use it again as long as I can be home during its' use.

will be running it until stretch over and then GH floranova bloom.
