Jacks 15-5-20 for Tap.. curious how it will work..

So. i have been using the normal jacks 3-2-1 for about a year and have had great results, i went to order a new bag and noticed they sell a formula specifically for tap water which i use which is 15-5-20. I was just wondering if anyone has tried it on here? It has cal/mag in it already also.. although in an email to me they told me they recommend a little more mag be added. One thing i will say is that it dissolves really fast compared to the normal stuff..

They recommend 2.5g/gal so. i mixed it up and came out at 480ppm, very low considering my water is 100ppm to start with. I went upto 3g/gal which got me to almost 600 which is still really low but i will see how the plant reacts. Being in dwc i should see how it goes in a day or two. According to the label it's made for tap which is normally 7ph which mine is, after mixing i went upto 8.5 when i actually expected to go down to like 5-5.5.. and it took a bit of ph down to get it to 6.

if any that knows this stuff well would like to see the label to see if they see any issues standing out please do :)

Post back and let me know how it goes.
So far ok.. after upping the g/gallon so high just to get to 600ppm my DWC plants PH was dropping overnight to below 4 which scared me.. i did some research and it seems overfeeding nutes does that. i went back to the recommended 2.5/gal and the PH is very very stable and so far the plant seems happy.

The scary thing is at 2.5g i'm getting 400-450ppm but the plants don't seem to care, so doing to run it like this for a week and see how they do. If i can get away with happy plants with less nutes used then good :)

I'm using the 15-5-20 tap and had very good results with it both in soil and now in coco/perlite or coco/perlite/vermiculite.

I purchased it back in March or April and like you thought my plants hated it (the few that I tried it with at least during mid-veg *soil*). Turned out being a salt buildup issue that had nothing to do with the tap nutes. I still decided to hold off on using it for the remainder of that grow..I wanted to start with a clean slate and all..give it another shot on some clones that were about to be transplanted into their "home" 5 gallon pots.

**Side note - I also use their 15-6-17 Clone nutes for both clones and from seed -- GREAT stuff btw**

I'm glad I decided to give it another shot as it worked out really well for me. Since then that's all I run in veg from solo cup to flip. I add 1/2 tsp (2.5 g) of tap nutes to one gallon of water and will sometimes alternate the addition of 1/4 tsp Epsom salt with 1/4 tsp Cali-Mag. I have pretty clean tap (ph 7.10 to 7.20 / 40-45 ppm) ...After adding both alternated formulas my ph range is from 5.9 to 6.2. I'll sometimes add a 1/8th tsp of ph up to get it a little higher (6.5-6.6) to balance it out overall. EC with Epsom addition is 1.60 and with CaliMag it's at 2.0. My plants love this formula and I'm glad I've found something that's easy and works very well. After flip I'll run the 10-30-20 formula again alternating CaMg and Epsom salt as needed for about a week or 2. Then it's Jack's 3-2-1 up to week 7 ...Jack's 7-15-30 Finish from week 7 til flush.

I know a lot of folks run the 321 all the way through veg and flower...I may try this too. For right now if it ain't broke why fix it?

**now that I've gone primarily with Coco/perlite my formulas are even easier now that I don't have to adjust PH as much.

I've attached some bud shots from this last grow that was harvested over the weekend. White Widow, G-13, Blueberry, and Galaxy. G13colaresize.jpgG13resize.jpgGalaxyresize.jpgResizedBberry.jpgResizedbberrycola.jpg

Those look damn nice :) I ended up back on normal jacks+AG.. i just harvested some ghost train haze 2 nights ago.. here is 1 cola, the PH bottle for reference.. my hand fits bout half way around the thing, one of the biggest i have grown..
P.S. not a great pic.. only took it to send to a friend that lives in a non weed state still :)

The weed scientist says he uses 1.3 with (2-1-2) jacks, 5.5 ph medium is peat vermiculite with added dolomite lime and gypsum and (iirc), no need to ph nutrient solution.

I'd say that plant had a couple weeks to go
I let that one go longer than normally actually (if you were replying to me) under the scope it was almost 50% amber, i usually harvest about 20% amber cause i like more of a head high.. but i'm experimenting. but it does look a bit early in the pic. i always trust the trichomes :)
