it won't grow, and it won't die

this is a frustrating account of a plant that just will not 'move'
wondering if this a 'pheno from hell', maybe someone else has seen something similar

so the strain is jock horror from nirvana, it was a very slow sprouter(2 weeks)
but when it did come up, it grew OK for about a week, then slowed to a crawl
soil is MG Organic with bone meal, dolomite and, perlite mixed in
outflow ph was around 6, i've bumped that up to 6.2 with some wood ash
it's under a single 27w 5500k cfl, but the bulb is still bigger than the plant, and it's within 2 inches

basically, the leaves began to get pale, the 1st true leaves are yellowing
i have used this soil mix on other plants, it has nitrogen
i've also fed with alfalfa tea which also has nitrogen
the upper leaves are so so, and have begun to get a bit darker after ph change
the thing just refuses grow, and it won't die, just kind of sits there
so the pics narrate the events, the other plant is a clone i was going to toss, put in for color comparison
+rep obviously for any info

well, the yellowing tells us its nitrogen def.,no matter if you used this mix before, each strain is unique, and so adjustments have to be made. Also the MG soil has the time release agents, that only release when wet,and dont last long,so it's probably time for some nutes. You could also use some more light as well, they absorb alot of it to grow,so the more the better.

thing is, have been feeding extra nitrogen with alfalfa tea, good organic source
seems to be helping a little bit, but very little
MG Organic Garden has no timed nutes, it's a wood waste/peat moss/poultry litter compost
+rep for helping, it's a plant that really worked me over

Not for nothing but if after all that time they won't grow, I would rip them up and start over. Also give them more than 1 lights

i'm just about there, it just doesn't look real sick
which has kept it alive longer than i should have
but you get obsessed with fixing stuff, it's tough to let go
+rep for the hard truth(maybe)

kill it bro slow grower small yeilder un clonable as why would u clone something that dosent grow
that's a good point, if it's a bad pheno, no reason to keep it around
unless i've made some simple nute mistake that's doing the problem, but probably 3 more days, then i guess it's time to let go
+rep for another axe vote

your giving it to much food mate , its slowly dieing. what it is maybe 2 weeks old ? u shouldnt even have time relase ferts in the soil at that age + the tea and other crap. get some new soil , plain soil..yellowing is the nute burn and i would raise your ph to 6.5 u want your ph at 6 only if your growing hydro.

no time release nute, MG Organic Garden is just a compost, bit of bone meal and dolomite mixed in
plant is actually close to a month old
didn't give it anything until the yellowing appeared
watering about every 3 days, it does get dry
it's the ph that i'm still thinking isn't suiting the plant, went to 6.2 from 6, 6.5 i guess is worth a shot before tossing it
and +rep of course

:bigjoint:so i just relized u are in soil and your ph 6 6.5 dont kill it yet flush with a ph water with 7.0 to 7.2 slightly on the alkyne side then next water u do ph it to 6.8 to 7.0 keep in this margain if u can get some dolomite lime it will ph your soil to 7.0 blaze on bongsmilie

well, the soil already has dolomite, used 1 tbsp per gallon of soil
but the one thing with the MG is it's acidity, seems like most point to ph
i'll turn up the ph dial a bit higher, kind of no lose situation at this point

i suppose the one worthwhile thing with misery is to document it

the plant to the left is a nl#5 clone that is beginning to take off, this was a discarded clone that i decided to keep
so the jock horror continues to just 'sit there', except for the lower leaves which are yellowing off
just to recount the steps i've taken
1st was to feed with alfalfa tea for what looked like nitrogen deficiency, that was about 10 days ago
that didn't seem to have much effect, so i tweaked the ph up a bit with wood ash, i do see the leaves have some more color to them, not much and plant is pretty much sitting there
so i hit her harder with wood ash a day ago, think the outflow is about 6.4 now, see what happens
pic is from a day ago, just before the ph adjust

i like to follow up problems with solutions, or at least understanding of the problem
this turns out to be a very simple problem, though i've just started fix it
the clone above started to yellow, but another clone i have was doing good in another pot with same soil
pot was bigger, more soil mixture
i've been starving this poor plant, after 30+ days of watering there's probably damn little nute left
my 1st grow was in a 2 gallon pot, start to finish, it skewed my sense of how little nute in a small pot
so another nube lesson, here's the current pic, hope to update again if i can recover things

You can keep saying it's because of a lack of nutrients, but it won't make it true. The plant can get about 8 times that size with NO NUTRIENTS at all just what is stored in the seed. When I grow in hydro I put my seed in rockwool, wait for it to sprout and I won't hit it with any nutrients for about 2 weeks. After the two weeks I'll get it to like 50ppm for another week or so. The plants need VERY, VERY little until they are much larger than what you've got there.

Your plant stalled because you overfed it. It didn't need anything and you gave it food. Generally they will sprout up, then they start growing ROOTS primarily so it looks like they stall out, then they take off like a mofo and that's about when the nutes should be reintroduced. If yours never took off and it's turning yellow something else is wrong.

It could be a bad pheno, it could be a lot of things, but people can grow in shot glasses and coke cans and don't have these problems.

Don't start your next ones and think that larger pots or more nutrients are going to help. Rip it out, see what the fuck is going on with the roots and make an assesment on the next grow and what should be done differently. Something is obviously wrong as the clone doesn't look much better. (obviously it's bigger as it started bigger).

i don't think i overfed it, didn't feed it at all for over 3+ weeks
partly, i'm basing this on another clone that was tossed in a larger pot and is doing much better, cut from same mother and same soil
i do understand what you mean on such a small plant needing very little nute, that's what i was thinking
well, either way it will get get better or not, good suggestion on checking the root ball
+rep(if i can) for help

Yeah, I hear ya, I really don't know what to say about it and I wasn't saying you shouldn't have fed it, just that it doesn't make any sense. Somethings gotta be going on with the roots. I would be interested just to know if they were larger, small, white, brown, slimy, etc. I have stalled out some plants at that size when I used too much light on them too young, but certainly not the case here.

I don't think thats jock horor.. maby some peter pan weed.. just wont grow up. I had somthing similar happen to me on my first grow when i used way to much fucking mirical grow being a dumb ass.. i would say ur best bet would to be axe that fucker immedietally and start fresh, no need in keeping a plant that is doing absolutally nothing. sorry =(

that's a soon possibility, but it is a jock horror
i read up on every jock horror log that i could find, i found a couple of pheno's that looked like this one
