It Sux Having to Use Teas...

Why the hell go to all the trouble of making Super Soil, and then go to the trouble of making and using so-called "teas"? Hell, most tea recipes are just nutrient solutions in disguise.

It seems to me that if teas are necessary or even noticeably beneficial, then the Super Soil itself wasn't mixed properly, cooked properly, or used in proper quantities.

My previous grow probably needed teas, because I only used 5-gallon pots. And my plants faded in week 6 of flowering (I used only tap water the entire grow, with no teas or nutrients of any kind). But in my current grow, I'm using 7-gallon pots, with no fading whatsoever (my plants are currently in week 7 of flowering). Again, I used no teas or nutrients of any kind.

Mix your Super Soil right, cook it long enough, and use enough of it, and you won't need to go to the trouble of making and using teas.

Teas are also about encouraging beneficial microbial life, not necessarily only to directly provide nutrients in themselves but to also make the rhyzosphere that much more capable and efficient at breaking them down. Different strains are going to have different NPK needs and unless you only work with the same plants over and over again you might find yourself needing teas or perhaps not at all, depending on the ratio of supersoil to the normal soil.

teas are dank!
Again, I say mix your Super Soil right, cook it long enough, and use enough of it, and you won't need to go to the trouble of making and using teas.

I'll bet my just-harvested 9 ounces of dank AK47 that Subcool himself would agree with me. I've NEVER read of him using teas...

It SUCKS having to use teas...if you have to use them, then you've done something wrong...

I really enjoy making teas, and using them. Any reason to spend more time in my garden is a good reason. I also enjoy making my own worm castings, compost, and collecting my own kelp. But hey to each their own.

He don't use teas but he does use botanicare pure blend pro bloom some times on large plants. and fading at week 6 on an 8 week strain is perfect just so yo know.

Sub uses humbolt honey also. The only help SS should need is bloom booster and suger for the mikes and other bb. He talks about the nuits he uses in this weeks weed nerd. Also he uses 10g tall pots.

Many ways to skin a cat...

I gave Subcool's super soil a few successful tries, but I'm actually happier with the results of my home made reused/recycled/reammended soil. And yes, I brew a few various teas along the way (something I actually enjoy doing).

to each their own. BTW I am pretty sure that all liquid nutes have stabilizing agents added to them. So they may say organic, but that may not necessarily mean all good things going into your soil.
I have been using SS for 2 rounds now and am having great success. Before SS I was only using teas/topdressing. I also add teas through all faces of growing....not necessarily to correct deficiencies, but to boost/feed the food web that is happening. Week seven this week and I have mushrooms growing out the soil...LOL it has happened a few times before. not sure if it is affecting the plants negatively or positively, but I think it's pretty cool. Any one ever see this?

A properly constructed tea is a wonderful boost for a growing plant and can be used to correct many nutrient deficiencies. Best of luck to you, ProfSnook

Teas provide beneficial bacteria , fungi and enzymes that will not stay present during the whole grow. All that breaks down organic nutrients so its readily available to the plant. Breaks down old or dead roots. promotes root growth, bud growth, and foliage growth. Its organic. There's no such thing as organic bottled nutes. They all lie. There are so many heavy metals, and poisons like strychnine in those so called organic bottles. Nutrient teas if needed are used for deficiency's. Nutrient teas and the cost of dry nutes are far cheaper and last much longer than bottled nutes. If you have a worm bin going. You make your own organic fertz for free.

this thread is more ignorant than the defoliation thread.

sub uses pure blend teas. He mentions it in almost every weed nerd video. He is not on this forum. The higher ups at riu banned him.

I don't do nutrient teas I do compost teas.

my recipe. Molasses, compost, worm castings, Kelp meal, oats, aloe Vera.

the compost, worm castings, produce humic acid, bacteria, fungi, enzymes, Oats produce fungi too. The bacteria feeds off molasses. The fungi feed of kelp and oats. Aloe provides minerals and speeds up veg growth, promotes fatter buds. I use my homemade castings there are nutes. I don't do super soil. I do living organics. I topdress , crab meal, kelp meal, neem meal, rock dust. The teas help break that down and provide everything I said before.

I have yet to see any organic soil grower say "man, if I don't use this tea, my plants will die".

Seriously, what organic soil grower HAS to use tea?

Show me.

The higher ups at riu banned him.

Mmmm, no. Only his mod privileges were taken away, his account is still active and not banned.

Anyways, it's extremely hard to get truly banned from this site...if you even can. If your account gets shut down, you can make a new one. They don't IP ban here. That's why there are so many autospammers on this site constantly.

Sub gave us all an exceptional starting point for organic gardening of cannabis. For that, he deserves kudos. He didn't invent it, as the concept has been around for much longer than Sub. And Sub's recipe if far from an exact science. Yes, it works well -- but there can and will be improvement and supplementation with teas and other nutrients and it is bound to improve the finished product.I have been experimenting with a product called Montana Grow (of course, I live in Montana), a silica supplement, added to my tea and it has noticable results in terms of yield. This is just one example -- I'm sure there are many more. I'd liken the mindset of the Sub method to be "absolute" to those who read the bible and take chapter and verse literally.

I totally agree. Sub's recipe is a great starting place. In fact, if you can follow directions and pay close attention to your plants, it is all you need to get really good results. However, there is a lot to improve upon or at least experiment on. For example, sub does not recycle his soil or do his own composting. He certainly does not intend for his recipe to be treated as a "bible." Of course, there are other good organic soil recipes out there and most are pretty similar to each other.

he said in one of his videos he was banned and can't access his account . He said he was done with the riu and sick of the drama and arguing. they banned him so he wouldn't delete his posts. Watch weed nerd a few eps back

also no one has to do anything. Its ignorant and stupid to dismiss teas. Its a cheaper and beneficial better alternative than anything else

Guano Tea's and molasses All Day!!!!

Your not feeding the plant your feeding your soil.

Although, I'm not organic anymore all of my outside garden veggies love the shit. Pun kind of intended.

Go look at his account yourself, it's not banned. It may have been banned and then unbanned. It is certainly not banned right now though.

If he doesn't remember his password and/or can't figure out how to get it reset, that's on him, not RIU.

He said in a video and on here he is sick of riu , the drama, the arguing, etc....and that he is leaving. They want his posts and threads to stay. They wont allow him access to his account. They were afraid he would delete his posts and threads when he left so they denied him access What does everyone not get about that? I highly doubt he forgot his password. He seems like a very cool and calm and intelligent person. I only met him once though. Ironically everyone is arguing over the fact of this. it is what it is. This thread is lame
