Soooo, in essence, Zen, your name should be Zenseeker, not zenmaster. The absolute egotistic nature of your name describes you to a tee.

Well what can I say medoman, I have ascended into the realm of ethereal tranquility where my vast knowledge has no bounds....Ask and you shall receive enlightenment.

But not on anatomy, I haven't got a clue on that one

Actually, NewGrowth, I am very familiar with zen, or enlightenment. I agree with most of the logic and teachings of Buddism save verse their philosophy on religion.

Constantly I am accosted with the bleak acquiescence of my own limits and abilities. I yearn for more clarity and wisdom and I shall never cease to explicate the boundaries of my own mind. Thus is the true meaning behind my username, ZenMaster. There could be no such greater exhilarating experience as such a zen or enlightenment that even a perfect drug could match.

Typically I tell most users on the forum that I received my name through the moments when I get high, but thats mostly on Toke n Talk, try to keep it simple for the kiddos.

But you are right, Zen is misinterpreted in the west, but I believe there can be a healthy marriage of the two. In the east, the only way you can attain zen is through extensive meditation and reflection whilst in the west its more romantisized and bestowed on new-age thinkers.
Enlightenment is not something to be achieved but realized. Each experience is entirely unique. I like to return to my center often but I have no need to remain there even if I could.
True Zen masters would use many many techniques to cause there disciples to attain enlightenment. Many were beat physically, the Zen philosophy is similar to many Tantric practices that cause sudden enlightenment. No "reflection" in Zen only nothing quite the opposite of many Buddhist teachings. I don't agree on some of the finer points of Zen myself. Interdependence is huge for me as I have experienced the "expansion" of space and the unity of it. Religion has caused more violence and death in the name of -->Insert you're god here...I stay away from it all, I am generally kind to others, and even help people when I can, no book taught me that, and guess what, my religion has not started one single war.

In fact, I tend to stay away from many organized things, a bit too trendy for me, and it always causes arguments and wars.

all right i cant resist..fella, you just said you support and like very much a bunch of stone aged thinking and acting apes that blew up an 8,000 year old statue of budda, not to mention harbor dumbasses who plan and plot ways to kill innocent people and behead motherfuckers for not being muslim..no that doesnt mean youre gonna hurt or kill anyone (i think it makes you a moron), but it makes you a lot more likely to do some kinda foul shit...and thats where the preemptive strike shit comes into play, and why we have bombed the fuck out of these places, and why innocent people of iraq and afganistan have died, and why the world has turned its back on pakistan and the flooding, and why more innocents are dying. it isnt us, its you. when people of your country, whatever it is, and all other muslims stop that "well, terrorists will be terrorists" like how we say boys will be boys when our sons track mud in the house and start saying, loudly "yo, thats shit is fucked up!" then maybe you can join us in the civilized world . and yeah, i said "you"..if youre down with the taliban, you are enemy...and before any moron wants to call me racist, let me say this, it aint how these fuckers look or the color of the skin- i could pass as one myself and i dated a girl whose parents were from pakistan who werent at all different from american parents and i think how isreal deals with palestine is some foul fucked up shit that we oughta be ashamed of for having a hand in. anyway, when you say 'oh, i hate none but american troops" youre hating someone. fuck the double talk.

I've read the Christian Bible and the Muslim Bible, as far as I can tell, the Christian Bible is Jewish history with God wrote into it, and the Muslim Bible is Muslim history with God wrote into it. Each side considers the other cursed and evil. It's as though somebody is pitting one side against the other in a perpetual feud. From my experience the better Muslims are every bit as good as the better Christians. I'd have to agree with one of the posters that it's only the extremists who should be considered evil. After all, they consider us evil...

Muhammad, hell-fire be upon him; was a child-molesting, narcissistic, sociopath.

And so are his adherents.

I find that the agnostics tend to treat people the best, Just my opinion. They don't seem to be so judgmental either.

What I find interesting is the people so open to call Islam what it actually is are quite hesitant to call Christianity, or all organized religion for that matter, what it actually is..

Wonder if my thread is still around...

But there is a difference.

The 911 planes were not hi-jacked by Presbyterians.

A schoolteacher will not face execution if she lets her students name a teddy bear 'Jesus.'

A director who makes a film targeting Christianity will not end up dead on the street with a knife in his chest.

A cartoonist who draws Jesus will not face execution.

An author who writes a book critical of Christianity will not face execution.

The list goes on and on....

And yes, I am fully aware of the Inquisition and the Crusades. Both took place a long time ago before the Reformation. What is relevant is how different religions affect us today.

Christians are not perfect; not by a long shot. But there is a huge gulf between Christian intolerance and Muslim intolerance.

You are right, and I've had a bit of a change of heart since I last posted in that thread. I think Islam is more dangerous than Christianity is today. But that doesn't mean Christianity, and many other religions, aren't also dangerous in their own kind of way today too. Anybody can look around and find examples in the real world to confirm that.

Doesn't that mean anything to anyone? Are people really so selfish they'd be content with something dangerous, just because it may be comforting? Isn't this a false sense of comfort?! Doesn't that matter?!

Islam will fail. No society with traditional western values and access to free, open information will ever adopt something so barbaric... :while 85% of the country I reside in believes in Christianity: (the irony is not lost on me)...

I know things will never change, not as long as I am alive... That's a little disheartening. If anything in life ever makes me think "what the fuck is the point of this shit..." it's that fact, and the reasons why.

Things could change, people are just too weak.

So what do you think America should go and start a war for how they live? Why should we lose lives for them? If they want a change they should rally up the people and fight for there liberty's just as Americans did during our revolution. they need to fight for there own freedom, to understand the importance of it. just because you disagree with the insane policy of the middle east doesn't mean we should go in there and kill millions of people, nation build and steal there oil. it doesn't mean we should create groups like al-quida and do false flags to kill our own people to help liberate iraq and the rest of the middle east, while taking away our freedom back home.
