Are there distillates that are smooth as air and wont cause irritation to lungs from long term use?can the the distillate be completely extracted from all taste?

The cannabis fraction from distillation is typically smooth, and has a phenolic taste, because it is a phenol. The terpene fractions add to harshness, as does non target elements like chlorophyll, b carotene, pheophytin, water solubles, and plant waxes.

I know of no tasteless terpenes or terpenoids. They are typically where most of the plants odor and flavor come from.

It should be smooth if it's a good clean cut and little to no taste of there are no terpenes or flavonoids added. It's not like shatter or any other wax derivative.
I think it depends on how you are taking it too. Like dabbing on a red hot nail vs. smoking it with open flame or a low watt vape pen or temp controlled enail.
Distillate has a taste, there is no getting rid of that but its mild

My last 500+g run has zero taste, dab'd on a quartz nail. As long as your vacuum is below 100 microns, and your switching flasks during MAINS only, and not getting heads or tails, then there is literally zero taste or smell. This run tested at 93.2% thc.

My 1st run came back at 86.7%, and had a hint of terpenes (taste and smell) on the ti nail

What are you running for a distilation setup? For some reason i keep getting that nasty rubber smell when i make distillate and leaves my fraction smelling like it. I cant get it done in 1 pass with 3 fractions. Always have ti run it thru 2 times.
