As stated above they have streched looking for light. They are by no means ruined. Start inching the light closer every day. I dont know how far away you are now but you need to be probably 6 inches closer and let them grow up to the light from there. When you transplant bury the stems another.5 to .75 of an inch. This will provide extra support and even produce more roots. Dont burry to deep. The soil stays damper deeper down and you dont want the stem to rot and dampen off
We usually use the term "stretching" to refer to vertical plant growth after going from veg to 12/12.
You are going to need some braces for your toothpicks. I use wooden skewers and pipecleaners. Also, couldn't hurt to fill the pot with as much dirt as possible and pack that dirt around the stem.
