Is this statement true?!?!!

Some guy from Marijuana Passion said the following: "dont under any circumstances ever use an inline to pull air from a hps as this can lead to the inline fan melting with excessive heat. just a precaution dude." What the hell? please tell me thats bullshit lol. if that is, please excuse my ignorance. ventilation is a major weak point of mine since I hold no experience.

So far, I've read that you need two separate sets of ventilation. 1) Air flow specifically for your light and 2) Air exchange for the grow area itself. OK, im pretty sure I can handle number two. What I need to know is how powerful a fan- how many CFMs of intake and exhaust do I need for a glass sealed 6'' 600 watt HPS?? (I've been getting mixed messages) I WANNA GROW!

I'll return to this post in a few hours. Any knowledge submitted to my benefit is welcomed and desperately needed.

most plastics take 250 degrees F or more to melt... is your 600 making the air that hot?

CFM means Cubic Feet Per Minute.... a cool tube is fractional cubic feet, so it doesnt take all that much air moving to keep em cool... wasnt there a manufacturer's recommendation with your tube?

the potential is there if the air moves slow enough, but I think few people worry about it or have any problems. heat is bad for pretty much any electronics. your fan should be fine, but if given the option, it would be better to put the fan before the light.

i have never heard of the heat hurting the fans. irun mine after the hood.
to get the correct fan measure your room and multiply them, thats the cfm you need and allow extra for back pressure of a filter. you only need one fan to exchange the air and to cool your hood light.

yeah, i dont use inline fans at all right now, i got a 465cfm blower and i just use that that to exhaust heat from my room and light both at the same time.....and you dont need to exchange the air in your grow room if you vent your light from its own intake to its own exhaust because that should keep room temps down enough, especially if you plan on using supplemental co2.
