the white hairs mean nothing, really. you want mostly cloudy and about 5 to 10 % BROWN(some people don't like the word amber?) trichs, thats when you chop.

So... I didn't water it for a week prior to harvest and gave it 72 hours darkness before the chop
Have it hanging from a string in the closet and had a fan blowing on it for 24 hours total.
Starting to smell way less grassy but almost more like hay now.
The buds don't feel damp and the buds feel dense when I pinch them

you want to let them hang till a stem close to the size of a pencil snaps when you bend it, and doesn't just flex. that usually takes at least 4 days, sometime as much as 10 days depending on the temp/humidity where you live. then i like to brown bag it for about another week, i find it really helps get rid of that grass smell before you start the jar/burp thing, which can take another two weeks or longer if you really want nice stanky buds

why would you not water her the last week of her life when you would want her to thrive during that time so she can put on weight for you? skip the 72 hours of darkness or let her stay under the lights for that time... drying her out is for after the chop. yield is low for a lot of different factors: veg time, strain, feeding regime, etc. you'll need to work on those; nonetheless, you kept her alive and made it to the finish line and that's what is important, so congratulations. good luck with your future grows.

i give one last good watering with plain water one week before i plan to chop, not really a flush, but i do try to get a good runoff, then i let it dry out that last week.
i tried the darkness thing, although i only tried 48 hours. it didn't seem to make any difference to me at all, but if you like it, go for it.
don't be afraid to experiment, but try to grow an extra plant to experiment on 8)
